Victor, here are the parameters of the KS175Zh, which is installed in the circuit:

• Minimum stabilization voltage 7.1 V;
• Rated stabilization voltage - 7.5 V;
• Maximum stabilization voltage - 7.9 V;
• Zener diode stabilization current - 4 mA.

As you can see, the zener diode has some stabilization voltage spread: 7.1-7.9 V. It is used in the circuit to power the logic circuits of the K176 series.
Most likely, replacing the KS175Zh with a zener diode with a voltage of 8.5V will not affect the operation of the charger in any way.

I got to repair KEDR AUTO 12V, I don’t know the year. I will not speak for all CEDARs, only on the example of this instance. Printed circuit board and wiring diagram according to Fig. 10. Schematic diagram - fully complies with Fig. 7. Diagram Fig. 3 contains obvious errors, the connection of the DD4 - K176TM2 chip is incorrectly shown. There, even for the DD4.2 part, the legs of the microcircuit are incorrectly numbered. In my copy, it was this microcircuit that failed, I had to figure it out. As shown in the diagram in Fig. 3, the node on the DD4 chip cannot work correctly. It would be better to remove it .... the diagram in Fig. 3.

Thyristors KU202G and KU202Zh are identical in terms of characteristics, except for the parameter "DC voltage in the closed state", where it is equal to 50V and 10V, respectively.

The circuit is low-voltage and this parameter here may not be so critical, perhaps some other details have failed. It is necessary to check whether all transistors and diodes are working, to study the operation of the device and check the microcircuits.

The board has a trimming resistor R5 "End of charge" (diagram in Figure 7), perhaps it was twisted without understanding and the device is not configured to turn off the charge when a certain voltage level on the batteries is reached.

Replaced diodes and thyristors. Charging went only in cyclic mode.
