192.168 1.1 eltex input. Setting up a router - how to find out the password for the web interface

Hello! I noticed that many people have problems with setting up routers even before the start of the setup process :). And there is nothing strange here, but the most popular problem is when it doesn’t work, in other words, there is no access to the settings.

When trying to access the address 192.168.1.1 (maybe another address, for example 192.168.0.1) the error “Unable to connect to the remote server” or something like that appears.

Now let’s look at the main reasons through which this problem most often arises and try to fix it.

The address 192.168.1.1 (192.168.0.1) cannot be opened, what should I do?

Most likely, something is connected incorrectly, or the settings on the computer are incorrect.

Checking the connection between the router and the computer

When I write articles like this, I always say that during setup, the router needs to be connected to the computer (laptop, netbook) via network cable. As a rule, the cable is included with the router. When everything is configured, you can disconnect the cable, everything will work without it.

Plug the router into a power outlet and connect it to the computer using a network cable. Typically, the network cable on the router is connected to the yellow connector. Like this:

One of the LAN indicators on the router should light up.

The computer must also detect that you have connected a router to it. The status should be something like this:

Don’t be alarmed that the status is “Without Internet access.” You just haven’t configured anything yet, everything will still be there :).

If everything is connected correctly, then try going to the address 192.168.1.1. Don `t come in? That's the problem, let's move on.

Perhaps the laptop has already connected to the router via Wi-Fi. Check and disconnect from your wireless network. The connection must be via cable only.

Checking the IP address. Perhaps yours is not 192.168.1.1

I don’t know exactly how it is on routers from other manufacturers, but at the bottom of the TP-Link router you can see the address for accessing the settings and the password/login that is used by default to access the control panel.

Look under your router, you may see something interesting there and the problem will be solved.

In TP-Link it looks like this:

As you can see on the router TP-Link TL-MR3220 IP address 192.168.0.1 . And no matter how you try, you can’t get into the settings at 192.168.1.1.

Also check whether you are entering this IP address correctly into the address bar of your browser. You need to enter it in the address bar, and not in the search bar :). Sorry for such childish advice.

Finally, try a different browser.

Main reason: it is not set to receive IP and DNS automatically

This is probably the main reason why you cannot get into the router settings. I should have written it first, but oh well.

This means that you need to check whether it is installed on your computer get IP and DNS automatically. Perhaps you have static addresses registered there from your old connection.

Right-click on the connection status in the notification panel and select “Network and Sharing Center.”

Go to the section on the left "Change adapter settings" and right click on "LAN connection". Select Properties.

Highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and press Properties. Then check if you are set to receive IP and DNS addresses automatically (if not, install it). Click Ok And Ok.

Frequently asked user question: Why can’t I go into the Wi-Fi router settings at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1? Indeed, quite often the user cannot enter the router settings because an error is displayed:

Http://192.168.1.1 Web page unavailable

Address to enter settings

Actually, the address of your router's web interface does not necessarily have to be or . These are just the most common variations of the IP address, and only if no one has changed it. In this article we will talk about various reasons for the problem of logging into settings and ways to solve it.

What is a router?

First, let's figure out what a router is. If anyone still doesn’t know, a router (also known as a router) is a device that is used to connect several devices to the Internet at the same time. If you connect your provider's cable directly to your computer (without a router), then the Internet will only work on this PC and you will have to configure it to connect all other devices to the network. And if you have a router in the room, then the provider’s cable is connected to its WAN port, and all other client devices are already connected to the router - some using Ethernet cables, others via Wi-Fi. To put it simply, a router is a kind of “Internet connection splitter,” just like an extension filter in the case of electricity.

To enter the router settings, use any browser - Chrome, Opera, Firefox. In order to enter the settings, you need to enter a special IP address into the address bar of your browser. Most often these addresses are 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1, but there may be others.

Unfortunately, people often have problems logging into their router settings at these addresses. And if you can't get into the web settings panel, you won't be able to access the web. There are many reasons for the problem. And in this article we have collected all the reasons and their solutions known to us.
Today we will answer the following questions:

  • How to configure the network card to log into the web interface at 192.168.1.1 (192.168.0.1)?
  • Why can’t I access the settings of my router, modem or access point?
  • In what cases, when trying to open the settings page of the 192.168.1.1 router, does the “page unavailable” error appear?
  • Why, when I try to enter the settings of my router (modem, access point), does it redirect me to Google or Yandex search?

What is the default IP address of the router settings?

The factory address of the router settings can be found:

  • in the instructions

The instructions always come with the device either in paper form or as a PDF document on disk, and very often both. In addition, setup instructions can always be downloaded from the official website of the router (access point, modem) manufacturer.

  • on the sticker

Typically, it is located on the bottom of the case or on the back of it. Here is an example from the D-Link DIR-300 router:

And this is what the TP-Link TL-WR841ND sticker looks like:

What IP should I register on my computer to access http://192.168.1.1

To initially configure the router, you need to connect any of its LAN ports to the computer’s network card:

And to enter the settings interface, you need the IP address of the network adapter to be in the same subnet as the router address. Most routers have a DHCP server enabled by default. This means that in the settings of your computer’s network adapter you just need to specify receiving IP automatically.

To do this, right-click on the network icon near the clock and select Network and Sharing Center:

  • Click on the link with the name of your network connection.
  • Select Properties.
  • Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4.
  • Click the button Properties.
  • Set both switches to Automatically.
  • Click OK:

But when setting up access points, repeaters (repeaters) or other network equipment, you need to assign an IP address to your computer manually, which in system administrator jargon is called “setting the IP address in the first place.” Go to settings and manually assign an address to the network card. For example, if the default IP of the router is 192.168.1.1, assign the network adapter any address from the 192.168.1 range. 2-254 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 :

Accordingly, in order to access http://192.168.0.1, you need to enter (for example) 192.168.0.24

Login to router settings

Why doesn’t the address 192.168.1.1 (192.168.0.1) open and an error appears?

So, first we will analyze the situation when, instead of the router settings page, an error like Web-page is unavailable:

1. You are entering an incorrect IP address.

Your router has a different default address (for example, 192.168.0.1 rather than 192.168.1.1) or the address has been changed to something else in the settings (for example, 192.168.0.254).

Solution

Find out the current IP of your router. This can be done both with and on iOS or Android:

Enter the correct settings address in the address bar in the format http://192.168.1.1

2. The router’s IP address is in a different subnet

This often happens after changing the IP router or if the computer address is configured manually.

Solutions

Option 1. If you know the router's IP, assign an address from the same range to your computer's network card.

Option 2: If you don't know, follow these steps:

    • Make sure your computer is connected to the router's LAN port.
  • Set to receive network settings automatically.

  • View network connection information. The gateway address will be the router address.

  • Enter the correct IP into the browser line.

3. The browser has a proxy server enabled

This also includes the enabled Turbo mode in Opera or Yandex Browser, as well as various applications and extensions that change IP - for example, . In addition, the browser may be infected with malware. Under all these circumstances, attempts to log into the control panel at addresses 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 or any others may result in an error.

Solutions to the problem

    • Disable Turbo
    • Disable the proxy server. You can also try checking the box Don't use proxies for local addresses or add the router address to the exceptions.
  • Scan your computer for viruses using and.

4. Network interface is disabled

  • Enable the network interface.

To do this, log in Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network Connections - Changing adapter settings, right-click on the desired interface and select Turn on:

  • Switch the patch cord to another network card if you have several of them.
  • Install the latest drivers for your network adapter.

5. The power to the router is turned off or there is a problem with the network cable

Check the power supply and integrity of the patch cord. Try replacing the cable:

6. A non-standard port is used to enter the router settings

In the settings of many routers (for example, the popular manufacturer TP-Link), you can specify not only the address, but also the port through which the web configuration interface will be available. If the port specified is not standard (that is, not 80), then to enter the settings you will need to specify its number separated by a colon after the address. For example:

Http://192.168.1.1:43011

Therefore, in this case you have three options:

  • find out the port number from the person who configured the router;
  • try to enter the settings using the host name, for example tplinkwifi.net(naturally, if you have a TP-Link router). You will be redirected to the correct IP address and port (usually 192.168.0.1);

7. Router malfunction or failure

Perform a factory reset

Signs that the router is faulty:

  • no internet or network;
  • no indicator lights up;
  • I can't enter settings.

Can't access 192.168.1.1 (192.168.0.1) from iPhone and Android

A very common mistake when trying to access the router settings from a phone: when entering a username on iPhone and Android, the first letter is entered as a capital letter. This leads to the error " The username or password you entered is incorrect“, and you can’t understand what’s the matter. To enter your login correctly:

Why does it redirect me to Google or Yandex when I try to access the settings web interface?

1. You enter 192.168.1.1 without http://

Some browsers, instead of going to http://, will redirect you to a search by numbers:

Type the URL in the address bar, starting with 'http':

http://192.168.1.1

2. Commas instead of periods

If you type in the Russian keyboard, then commas may appear instead of periods:

192,168,1,1

In this case, you will also be redirected to the search engine.

Enter the correct URL in your browser starting with http:// and click Enter:

3. Letters instead of numbers in the IP address

Sometimes, for some unknown reason (most likely, of course, out of ignorance), people enter the letters “i” instead of ones. As a result, instead of an IP address you get the awkward 192.168.I.I or 192.168.l.l and after that you end up in the search instead of the router settings page.

The most common addresses, logins and passwords

For novice users: if you don’t have a sticker on your router, don’t have instructions, the Internet doesn’t work, etc., here are the most common default details.

The more people use broadband Internet access, the more often the question arises - how to access the Wi-Fi router settings?! Many people even know that IP is used to enter the router settings 192.168.1.1 , or less often - . And yet, with access to the web configurator, some incomprehensible stories constantly arise, forcing the user to surf the Internet in search of an answer - how to log in to 192.168.1.1 to configure the router. This instruction will fully answer all your questions and will help you understand all the basic intricacies associated with accessing the configuration parameters of a wireless router.

What we're going to talk? To begin with, I will conduct a small educational program and tell you briefly what these addresses 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 are, why they are needed on the home network, where they need to be entered to go to the page with the router settings and what to do if this can't do it?!

Most often, such questions are of interest to those who have just connected to the Internet, bought a Wi-Fi router for this, and then don’t know what to do with all this stuff! The way modern network devices are designed is that before you put it on the network, you need to change the basic configuration parameters to those recommended by the provider to which you are connected. You will also have to open the router settings if the Internet stops working due to the settings being lost, or when you need to change the WiFi password or some other options. Moreover, no matter what router you use - Asus, Zyxel Keenetic, Tp-Link, D-Link, NetGear, Trendnet, Tenda, Linksys or something else - the process of logging into the router’s web interface via IP address 192.168.1.1 (or any other) is almost the same everywhere and is no different!

IP 192.168.1.1 - what is this address and how to use it

Any modern Internet access device, be it an ADSL modem, WiFi router or xPON optical terminal, is a whole mini-computer! It has its own processor and RAM, and is controlled by a special operating system. Therefore, you should not be surprised by such an abundance of various settings and functions that modern routers are endowed with. Two networks are usually connected to this mini-computer:

  1. WAN or Wide Area Network- This is an external network that comes with the provider's cable.
  2. LAN or Local Area Network- this is your home network, which will include a computer, laptop, phones, tablets and Smart TV.

So 192.168.1.1 is the IP address of the router on the local network, using which you can enter its settings. The same IP is the gateway for the home network.

Recently, manufacturers have begun to assign domain names on the local network to ordinary home Wi-Fi routers. The most striking examples:

Asus - asusrouter.com TP-Link - tpinklogin.net, tplinkwifi.net or tplinkmodem.net Zyxel Keenetic - my.keenetic.net NetGear - routerlogin.net Rostelecom routers - http://rt

That is, in the address bar of your web browser, instead of the IP address 192.168.1.1, you need to enter a symbolic name and press the “Enter” button.

How to find out the IP address of a WiFi router

As I said above, to organize a home network and access management, each router has its own local IP address, through which it will be accessible to all clients. It will also be indicated as a gateway for all gadgets connected to it. How to find out the router address? Yes, very simple. We take it in our hands and turn it over. As an example, I’ll show you a sticker on the Netis DL4320 modem:

On the back of the case there will be a sticker on which all the basic information about the network device is written - manufacturer, model, serial number. Also, in a separate area, the IP address of the router will be registered - 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 or some other. It is this set of numbers that will need to be entered in the address bar of the browser.

If instead of IP a symbolic address is registered, then you will have to enter it. Example - TP-Link TL-MR4320 WiFi router:

By the way, the login and password for logging into the router via 192.168.1.1 are written there. Typically this is the username − admin and password - admin.

If there is suddenly no sticker on the device, then use the instructions from the manufacturer.

How to enter 192.168.1.1 into the router settings

Let's take a step-by-step look at how to properly connect and log into the router settings via 192.168.1.1 for beginners!

Step 1. We start with the fact that you first need to correctly connect your computer or laptop to it, using which we will further configure the router:

It is best to do this through the supplied LAN cable. You can see the connection diagram in the figure. That is, we connect one end of it to the network card of a PC or laptop, and plug the other end into the LAN port on the router. In general, you can log in to 192.168.1.1 via WiFi, but to do this you either need to know the password for its Wi-Fi, or be able to click on . on the router, then connect within two minutes.

As soon as you connect to a network device, the Windows operating system can automatically set the connection status to “Restricted” or “No Internet access”. There is no need to be scared - this is normal. Since the device is not configured, it does not have access to the global web! This does not affect access to the web configurator!

Step 2. Launch the web browser. You can use absolutely any browser, but I would still recommend using either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Alternatively, Opera will do. But with Firefox, sometimes there are problems with the layout and operation of interactive elements,

Step 3. In the address bar where you usually write the website address, type the router’s IP address - http://192.168.1.1(or http://192.168.0.1 depending on what is indicated on its sticker). Press the “Enter” button. If everything is configured correctly and there are no problems, a window should appear with fields for entering your login and password, as in the picture above. Enter your login information to open the web interface. Typically used to log in to 192.168.1.1, login admin, password admin. Some D-Link models may not prompt you for a password. On Tenda routers, you may not be prompted for a username and password at all!

Entry-level routers are inexpensive not only due to their modest hardware. To reduce the price, the manufacturer also saves on packaging. As a result, disks with software for automatically setting up an Internet connection have long disappeared from the contents of the boxes of inexpensive routers. Configuring such a device is only possible manually, using the web interface - a special Internet portal to which the router provides access even without an Internet connection. How to connect the router to a computer, open access to the web interface and enter the correct password to access the settings is the topic of our short review.

Initial connection of the router to the computer

In order to make the initial settings of the router, you need to correctly connect it to the computer and to the provider’s network. The connection diagram is very simple: the Internet provider's cable is connected to a connector labeled Internet or WAN, and the computer is connected using a patch cord to one of the router's Lan connectors.

Typical connection diagram for a router on a home network

If the router is not new, but purchased on the secondary market, you should reset it to factory settings before connecting.

Make sure that the network adapter of the computer with which the settings will be made is configured to automatically obtain a network address, and if necessary, make the necessary settings.

  1. Click on the “Start” button with the right mouse button, and from the user menu that opens, select “Network Connections”.

    Calling network connections from the user menu

  2. In the network connections window, select the desired adapter and use the right mouse button to open its properties.

    The network adapter properties contain TCP/IP protocol settings

  3. From the list of protocols, select TCP/IP and double-click to bring up its settings.

    TCP/IP protocol is the main conductor of a wireless network

  4. Configure automatic acquisition of the network address and DNS server address and click OK.

    Automatic receipt of addresses is set

Although almost all routers have a wireless network with factory settings that do not require entering a password, you should not use it to connect to the web interface - this is fraught with errors and failures. Configure your router using a cable connection only.

Access to the web interface of routers of various models

Depending on the manufacturer and price category of the router, access to its settings is possible using the IP address, the name of the built-in portal, or even a mobile application running Android or iOS.

Access to the web interface of TP-LINK routers

To access the web interface of the TP-LINK router, use the network address 192.168.0.1, which must be entered in the address bar of your Internet browser. In older router models (TL-WR841, TL-WR941, TL-WR1043), instead of the network address, you can specify the symbolic name of the portal - http://tplinklogin.net or http://tplinkwifi.net.

All data for the initial setup of the router is printed on a sticker located at the bottom of the case:

  • http://tplinklogin.net - web interface address;
  • admin - login;
  • admin - password.

After resetting to factory settings, the authorization parameters correspond to the data on the sticker

Access to the web interface of D-LINK routers

By entering 192.168.0.1 in the address bar of your Internet browser, you will be taken to the authorization page of the web interface of D-LINK routers. The login login is admin, the password is empty, i.e. you do not need to enter it.

Depending on the model or firmware revision, the address and password pair may change. After resetting the device to factory settings, the input parameters correspond to the data shown on the sticker with the device serial number.

Access to the web interface of ASUS routers

When you first connect to an ASUS router (new or reset to factory settings), you need to use the address 192.168.1.1. If you have a relatively old router (WL-G500, RT-G32, RT-N13) - use the admin login and admin password.

If you have a new unit running the AsusWRT software package, then when you first connect, the router will prompt you to choose a login and password to access the web panel. Once entered, the password pair will be saved and can be used until the next time the router is reset to factory settings.

Access to the web interface of Zyxel routers

The standard address for accessing the web configurator of Zyxel routers is 192.168.1.1. The usual login is admin. But the developers decided to use an unconventional password - a combination of numbers “1234”. You can also access the web configurator by the portal name - my.keneetic.net.

If you decide to perform the initial configuration of the router using a wireless network, please take into account that encryption is already activated on the wireless network at the factory settings and you will need a password to access it. You can read the name of the wireless network and its password on the information sticker located at the bottom of the router case:

  • my.keenetic.net - access address to the web interface;
  • admin - login;
  • 1234 - password;
  • Keenetic9473 - name of the wireless network;
  • xnyVFsQx - password for accessing the wireless network.

Factory settings are printed on the bottom sticker of the router

Access to the web interface of Tenda routers

Like the D-LINK family of routers, the admin login and an empty password field are used to access the web interface. The access address is 192.168.0.1 or http://tendawifi.com.

For younger models, such as Tenda W316R or Tenda W309R, the wireless network at factory settings works with encryption disabled, so you will not need a password to access it. But after setting up your Internet connection, the first thing you need to do is enable Wi-Fi encryption so as not to give your neighbors a gift in the form of free access to the network.

Older models enable WiFi encryption out of the box. To connect to set up over the air, use the data from the information sticker: the name of the wireless network (Tenda_1AAE30) and the password to access it (falltable831). You can also connect to Wi-Fi using the secure connection function (WPS). To do this, press the WPS button on the router, and then enter the PIN code printed on the sticker under the Wi-Fi network name and password (47896123) in the dialog box that opens with your computer operating system.

No access to the web interface - what to do?

For a new router, the inability to access the web interface settings most likely indicates a device malfunction. The best solution in this case would be to return the router under warranty. But if the device was purchased on the secondary market and it is not possible to configure it, it makes sense to try to carry out diagnostics and fix the connection error.

Swollen capacitors of the power subsystem are the most harmless malfunction of a router purchased on the secondary market.

Table: typical errors when trying to access the router

SymptomsReason for errorHow to resolve the error
When connecting a network cable, the computer adapter does not receive a network address, the wireless network does not start, the power indicator blinks slowlyThe router is in emergency mode after a failed firmware update attemptSet your computer's network adapter to a fixed IP address of 192.168.1.2 (depending on the model) and download the software using the TFTP program
When connecting a network cable, the computer adapter does not receive a network address, the wireless network does not start, assigning a fixed address does not correct the situation - there is still no access to the routerThe router's network ports are damaged due to a lightning storm or power surge.The device needs to be restored by a service center, but often this is not financially feasible - the cost of repair will not be much less than a new router
When you try to go to the web interface address, the Emergency Room page opensThe attempt to update the software was unsuccessful - the router is in emergency modeLoad the correct firmware into the router using Emergency Room and reboot the device
When turned on, only the power indicator lights up, the network activity indicators light up and go out cyclicallyThe bootloader was damaged during the firmware update process.The router's flash memory must be rewritten using a programmer or JTAG interface. This is a simple procedure, but it is better to do it at a service center.
When turned on, none of the indicators light upNetwork adapter is faultyReplace the network adapter with a working one, with the same technical characteristics (operating voltage and maximum permissible load current)
All activity lights are on and the router is getting very hotThe router's processor is damaged by static electricity and failsRepairing the router is impractical, you will have to buy a new one
The router does not broadcast the name of the wireless network, so it is impossible to connect to it via WiFiThe router's wireless module is disabled in the settingsIf you cannot connect to the router with a cable, reset the device to factory settings. After that, connect to the wireless network, the name of which is printed on the router’s instructions

Working at a large computer repair service center, I often repaired routers. In 90% of cases, these were devices that became “bricks” as a result of inept actions of the owners who tried to flash them. If you decide to update the firmware, check several times whether you downloaded the correct firmware version from the manufacturer's website. Loading software from a different router model or even from a different hardware revision will lead to complete inoperability of the device. Its restoration will require a lot of time and money.

Restoring software in a router flash drive requires equipment that you may not have at home

Each manufacturer produces a line of several dozen routers, from the cheapest to premium-segment models. And yet, they are all similar devices to each other, and software developers are trying to make the initial setup procedure as unified as possible with other router models. Therefore, having learned how to configure the web interface of one router, you can easily configure any other device of this type.
