One of my friends lived without an antivirus for probably 5 years. No antivirus at all. And the funny thing is that everything was fine, no hassles with database updates or computer slowdowns. But one “wonderful” day the apple rotted, and the worm comfortably settled in the depths operating system🙂 From that moment on, the sugar was no longer so sweet, and the grass was not so green...
All I mean is that antivirus today is a mandatory program that should be installed on any computer and laptop, at least where there is Internet access. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of antiviruses, but the ones we hear are the same: , Avira, Norton and others. At different times I was an adherent of each of them.
Now, I’ve been using ESET NOD32 for about 3 years now. I won’t kick myself in the back and shout that this is the best antivirus of all time, but I will say that it’s good. Does its job well and doesn't bother me. At first I wanted to write instructions on how to use it, but then I thought, why? I have no desire to write “how to click the mouse,” especially since I have.
Therefore, I decided to write about some aspects that are useful to know about. In general, everything works on default settings immediately after installation.
Two versions
First of all, there are two versions of the program:
- "ESET NOD32 Antivirus" - only virus protection
- "ESET NOD32 Smart Security"—enables network security, i.e. firewall/firewall
I use Smart Security, but, in principle, if the computer is connected to the Internet via a router, the latest updates for Windows 7/8/10 are installed and the firewall built into Windows is enabled, then you can limit yourself to the regular version. But I don’t see the point in this, even if there are no important documents on the computer. There is never too much.
The only difference is in price - the option with a firewall is more expensive. But, since you can use free keys (more on this below), this factor is of little significance.
Where to get keys for the latest version of ESET NOD32
The program is not free, but it is quite inexpensive. But you can use the antivirus legally and for free. The fact is that when you first install the program, you are given a trial (temporary, trial) key. After its expiration date, you need to buy a normal key. If you already have a license for the old node32, and then you installed new version, then the username and password must be converted to the new key format, which consists of 20 characters.
But there are sites that provide an endless number of TRIAL keys for free. For example, this site http://www.nod32eset.ru/, by the way, everything here has already been converted, you just need to copy any key and paste it into the antivirus. If it doesn’t work, then you need to try the next one. New keys must be posted every day.
Protection of financial transactions
In the 9th version of NOD32, an interesting function “Bank payment protection” appeared. You can find it in the main window:
If you click there, NOD32 opens a new, protected browser window. Now you can enter the address of the site where you will carry out banking, financial or other confidential transactions. The point is that in the new window the antivirus protects the transmitted data and does not save it on disk. It even has its own database of sites, on which NOD32 offers to enable bank payment protection mode.
Anti-theft
A cool thing that will make life much easier if your computer or laptop is stolen. The essence of the work is this: turn on the function and register on a special website, add your computer. Now, if the device is stolen, the main thing is that the criminal turns it on and connects to the Internet. And we need to go to the site from another computer and click the “Stolen” button. From now on we can:
- Follow a person through a webcam, take a photo to transfer to the police
- Write a message to the attacker, attaching a photo of your face for added effect
- NOD32 will try to determine the location of the laptop based on the Wi-Fi connection point
The main thing is that the antivirus now protects your credentials. And this is worth a lot, because for many, the loss of hardware is not as important as access to accounts.

Automatic flash drive check
Flash drives that are used in public places are infected. Therefore, even today, when it would seem computer literacy people have grown up, you still need to check removable drives. In NOD32, this feature is enabled by default, and when a new removable drive appears, you will see a dialog about what to do next.
I only use my flash drives, so I disabled the Device Control feature.
Game Mode
It will appeal to gamers who are annoyed by pop-up messages and questions during the game. It’s especially annoying when at a crucial moment it throws you onto your desktop and you “die...”

And the main thing why I love NOD32 is its impeccably fast operation. In fact, the antivirus is constantly running and scans all transferred files, launched programs, mail, links. This requires resources, and the trick is that Nod uses them little and does not load the system.
I have never had any freezes or slowdowns, just like virus infections 😉 And in the eleventh version, the developers have further improved and optimized the work. And daily update packages are also kept to a minimum size. So background updating has virtually no effect on the speed of the computer.
When servicing, configuring and repairing computers, you often have to install on client computers antivirus programs . And never again not a single client wanted to pay for a licensed antivirus! As a result, we have constant hemorrhoids with searching and installing all kinds of keys and licenses. At the same time, pirated keys very often fly off, and teaching some users to look for and install new keys is sometimes (very often) impossible due to their impenetrable stupidity. Even the instructions in pictures don't help.
It became a panacea for me NOD antivirus(even though I'm not a fan). But the whole point is that some kind people wrote TNOD program, which automatically checks the presence and serviceability of the current NOD license and, if necessary, selects and installs a new key itself. The use of this program will be discussed further.
First, you need to temporarily disable the protection of your antivirus, because product developers Eset they’re not stupid either, and they’ve been doing it for a long time TNOD to the virus database (don’t be afraid, it is not a virus).

Now you need download the program itself. The program is absolutely free. Unfortunately, I can’t give you a link because I’m strongly against it.
Let's launch TNOD.
In this and subsequent program windows, click " Further"agreeing to everything. In the last window, leave a tick" Launch" and press " Ready".
Now ours program for automatically searching and adding keys to NOD It's already working, but it can't do anything yet. We still have to carry out several manipulations with the NOD antivirus.
First let's add TNOD to the exclusion list so that the antivirus does not block it. And so, right-click on the icon But yes in the tray and click " Additional settings".
In the window that opens, you will see a tree with settings on the left. We select in it " Computer"->"Protection against viruses and spyware"->"Exceptions". Press the button " Add" and select the entire folder in which it is installed TNOD.
Now we need to add to the exception sites where TNOD looks for new keys. Again we climb into the mood tree and select " Internet and email"->"Internet access protection"->"URL Management".
And add these sites one at a time (along with asterisks at the beginning and end):

To activate ESET NOD32 we need the following data: Username and Password. They can be obtained by purchasing a license on the official website or by activating trial version.
Please note that on the main page of the site you can always take, the validity of which is 30 days from the date of publication.
The site has a key generator with which you can get a free license for 7 days. One e-mail address can be used multiple times.
By activating the trial version, you get 30 days, so reinstalling the trial version is more profitable than getting a key using a generator.
Instructions:
1. Open ESET NOD32 antivirus by clicking on the icon in the system area of the Windows taskbar.
2. Press the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + U", after which a window will open "License Information".
Note: The window will only appear if the antivirus is already activated and you want to renew the license. For the first activation, go to the tabs depending on the version of your antivirus. Doesn't work in version 9.
3. Enter the information you received in the appropriate fields "Username and Password".
4. Click "OK".
5. Congratulations! Your license is activated and your computer is protected from viruses.
6. Select a section "Update" and update the virus signature database to the latest version.

3.1.2. Paste the key into the special field of the antivirus and click on the button"Activate".

5. Update the virus signature database. To do this, select a section "Update" and click on the button "Update Now".

3.2.4. Click on the button "Activate".
4. ESET NOD32 has been successfully activated. Click to finish "Ready".
5. Go to the section "Update" and download the latest virus signature database by clicking the button "Update Now". Now your computer is maximally protected from viruses!

1. Open the program window by double-clicking the antivirus icon in the Windows taskbar.
2. Go to the section "Settings" and click on the button "Program activation" or "Not activated".
3. There are two ways to activate ESET security software:
3.1. Method No. 1

5. Go to the section "Update" and press "Update Now" to download the latest virus signature databases.

2. Go to the section "Settings" and click on the button "Program activation".
3. In the dialog box that appears, we are asked to select the type of program activation; we will use only two:

3.1.2. Enter "Username and Password" in the appropriate fields.
3.1.3. Click on the button "Activate".
3.2. Method No. 2
3.2.1. Select an item "Activate trial version" and press "Further".
3.2.2. Enter your email address.
3.2.3. Choose a country.
3.2.4. Click on the button "Activate".
4. The program activation window will automatically close. If you followed the instructions carefully, the program should be activated.
5. To check this, go to the section "Update" and check the activation status of the program. We recommend "Update virus signature database" For maximum protection from viruses.
ESS/EAV 4
1. Double-click on the ESET NOD32 icon in the lower right corner of the screen to open the program window.
2. Go to the section "Update" and press the button "Setting up a username and password"
1. Make sure that opposite the inscription "Download and install Browser with Protect function" checked(without this checkbox you will not be given a key).
2. Press the button "Install trial version".
3. Copy the received key, which can be used to activate the antivirus.
