Recently I ran into a banal problem - the remote control died on the Samsung LE-32S81B LCD TV. More precisely, he didn’t die, some buttons just stopped working, as luck would have it, the most used ones are channel switching and volume. Dismantling the remote control and rubbing its insides with alcohol gave some effect, but temporary - after 3 days it was necessary to press the button with all your might to switch channels. Tired!

Puzzled by the purchase of a new remote control, I conducted a raid on online stores and realized that it would not be possible to buy an original remote control cheaper than 800 rubles. I went to the M-Video store, they offered me a non-original remote control there for 900 rubles, for which I was sent along the fence to read the inscriptions, and during a visit to Auchan I purchased a "good cheap" GAL LM-P003 remote control for 350 rubles and 2 AAA batteries for him.

The most interesting thing was ahead - setting up the GAL remote control to work correctly with a Samsung TV.

Comes with remote control detailed instructions how to do this, it shows several ways - manual, automatic and semi-automatic. A separate piece of paper is a list of codes for different types of equipment - a sheet almost the size of a TV, and filled on both sides - at least 1000 codes! Fortunately, there is a grouping of codes by device type (TV, Audio, Video, DVD, etc.) and by manufacturer.

Automatic way is that the remote control goes through all the codes from this table in a row and gives a command to turn off (by default, the TV must be turned on). If the TV turns off, then the code is selected and you need to press the OK button within 2 seconds. I first launched this code selection method, but quickly realized that I could sit from morning to evening while he sorted through all the codes. Moreover, you can’t move away from the TV in order to have time to press the OK button. I don’t know who to recommend this method to - except for housewives or pensioners who have a lot of free time :)

Manual way faster and more practical. In the section with codes, we are looking for the type of equipment and our manufacturer, in my case - TV / Samsung. There will be 40 four-digit codes in this section. We act as follows, here is a step-by-step instruction:

1. Press the TV button on the remote control and hold it for 3 seconds, the indicator on the remote control lights up.

2. After that, enter the code in numbers, for example, 0064. The indicator goes out, the code is accepted.

3. To check, press the channel switch button. If the TV does not react in any way, we return to step 1 and enter the following code. And so on until the TV responds to commands from the remote control.

I managed to enter a working code from about 20 attempts, the remote control controlled the TV, but incorrectly - the channels switched, the volume was adjusted, but the setup menu did not work - instead of going through the items (with a joystick), the channels switched. I continued searching and found at least 5 more working combinations. The code 0565 turned out to be optimal for the Samsung LE-32S81B TV. All functions have worked - both the menu and teletext (although I don’t use it) and other rarely used settings.

Let's summarize. The GAL-P003 remote control turned out to be a fully functional and inexpensive replacement for the original remote control remote control. For about 15 minutes I had to tinker with reading the instructions and setting up the remote control. The range of the remote control is at least 5 meters (with fresh batteries).

By tactile sensations, the GAL-P003 remote control, of course, is not ideal - you can feel the cheapness in everything. The case is made of inexpensive and lightweight plastic, painted in silver. There are small notches along the junction of the top and bottom panels. The volume and channel buttons are not the most convenient shape, they are pressed tightly, a click is felt at the end of the button. The remaining buttons have a convex shape and are pressed more easily. The inscriptions on the main buttons are easy to read, but it seems to me that with intensive use they will be erased over time. If you appreciate expensive and solid things and accessories, this remote control is not for you. But if you just want a remote that works, the GAL-P003 is a very practical choice.

Usually Universal remote remote control (RC) is a small box with LEDs, circuits and buttons. It works due to the fact that the infrared sensor on it transmits the desired code to the same sensor in another device. With it, for example, you can adjust the sound volume, switch channels, change the power of a device, and much more. It differs from the usual universal remote control in that several electrical appliances can be recorded simultaneously in its circuit. Today we will look at how to set up a universal TV remote control.

Setting up a universal TV remote

It will be pretty easy to do everything. It may not work the first time, but don't despair.

If you haven't bought it yet, you can buy it in China at a very low price.

The setting includes several ways:

  1. Press and hold SET (TV) until the red LED is active, then once on POWER, then enter the TV code and the indicator should turn off. If the indicator does not go out, then you must press the MULT button after entering the code.
  2. Dial desired number and simultaneously hold SET (TV) and POWER.
  3. Hold SET (TV) until the red LED is active, then press POWER once, point the remote control towards the switched on TV and wait for its reaction. Then to the MULT button.

In the event that the device does not start to work, you need to try entering a different number for the existing TV model, or use the 3rd method.

If you don’t want to set up the remote control yourself or it doesn’t work, then you can ask an employee of some electronics store, you just need to know the TV code.

Setting up a universal remote without a code

In this method, you will have to do the settings yourself and without entering the number. To do this, you first need to turn on the TV. Then on the remote you need to hold down a button called Set for a few seconds, or it may still be SETUP (TV) until the red sensor becomes bright. Send your universal device toward the TV and press the green POWER button. The indicator should start blinking, which means the device has begun to select a code for your TV receiver. We are waiting for some kind of reaction to occur on the TV. For example, the sound will turn off, the channel will switch, etc., this reaction depends on the brand of the TV or even on the remote control. After waiting for the reaction, you must immediately press the MUTE button.

Below is the official Rolsen tuning manual: RRC - 200, RRC - 300. It may be suitable for other devices.

After waiting a few seconds, the indicator will turn off and you can use it. If it didn’t work out, then try to turn off the sound after turning on the TV and after selecting the channel, and then do the same steps that are described just above. If you did everything correctly and your devices are really working, then the setup should be successful.

Beginning of work:

Carefully, observing the polarity, install two batteries in a special compartment. Alkaline batteries are recommended.

Remember to change batteries at least once a year!

Set up the remote to work with the necessary devices. To do this, you can use several methods.

After saving the code, turn on your device and check the operation of all buttons on the universal remote. If any buttons do not work properly, try another code.

Code entry manually:

Find the brand of your device in the list of brands in the table. Each device brand has one or more four-digit codes. Press and hold the desired "SET" button, then press the device select button, for example, "TV". When the indicator lamp lights up, release both buttons. The indicator continues to glow continuously. Enter the four-digit device code. When entering each digit, the indicator lamp flashes and after entering the fourth digit it will go out, and the code will be stored in the remote control memory. If the code you enter is incorrect, the lamp will blink twice and remain lit until you enter the correct code.

Manual code search:

If you do not know the manufacturer of your device or cannot find its code, you can select the code manually. To do this, first press and hold the “SET” button, simultaneously press the button of the equipment you have chosen, for example, “TV”. When the indicator lights up continuously, release the buttons. Then press the “SET” button once again, the indicator will start flashing. Point the remote at the TV screen and press the "POWER" button. Each time you press this button, the remote sends a power off signal, cycling through the codes in ascending order. While the signal is being sent, the light flashes at an increased frequency. When the correct code is found, your TV will turn off. Press the button of the selected equipment "TV", the indicator lamp will go out, and the code will be stored in the remote control's memory.

Automatic code search:

Turn on the device of your choice, such as a TV, and point the remote at it. Press the desired device selection button once, for example "TV". Press and hold the "SET" button and the "POWER" button. After three seconds, when the indicator light comes on, release both buttons. The remote control will begin sending a power off signal, cycling through the codes sequentially in ascending order every two seconds. While the signal is being sent, the light flashes. When the TV turns off, immediately press any button (except the "SET" button) to stop the automatic search. The indicator lamp will turn off, and the device code will be stored in the remote control memory.

When the cycle is completed, the indicator lamp on the remote control will turn off and the search mode will turn off. The duration of the search cycle can be up to 30 minutes. Every time when You start searching, it starts with the last stored code. If you did not have time to stop the automatic enumeration of the code, it is not necessary to repeat the entire cycle again. Find out the currently programmed device code, subtract a few units from it, enter the received value manually and then use the manual code search procedure. For example, you have automatically started a search for a TV. The TV turned off, but you stopped the search a little late, so the subsequent code, for example "1015", was stored in the device's memory. Program manually the code "1000". Then start the manual search procedure. If the desired code is “1012”, then after the twelfth press of the button “POWER", the TV will turn off.

How can I find out the current programmed device code?

Press the button of the selected device on the remote control once, for example, “TV”.

The first digit of the code can be found as follows. Press and hold the "SET" button, simultaneously press the "1" button. Release both buttons. If the first digit of the code is 1, the indicator will blink once. The absence of the indicator signal means that the code digit is "0".

Second digit. Press and hold the "SET" button, simultaneously press the "2" button. Release both buttons. If the second digit of the code is "5", the indicator will blink five times. The absence of the indicator signal means that the code digit is "0".

Third digit. Press and hold the "SET" button, simultaneously press the "3" button. Release both buttons. If the first digit of the code is "7", the indicator will blink seven times. The absence of the indicator signal means that the code digit is "0".

Fourth digit. Press and hold the "SET" button, simultaneously press the "4" button. Release both buttons. If the first digit of the code is "3", the indicator will blink three times. The absence of the indicator signal means that the code digit is "0". After saving the code, turn on your device and check the operation of all buttons on the universal remote.

For some TV brands, the “POWER" only has the function to turn off the TV. To turn on the TV again, you must press any number button.

If your TV does not support certain features, such as the “MUTE" (mute), button "MUTE" on the remote control will not function.
