My son is ten years old, he is in fifth grade and has just started studying chemistry. In my opinion, this set is much more useful and interesting than many modern toys and the price is ten times lower. There were no doubts left after reading the positive reviews, and the store manager said that growing crystals has been in great demand recently. Now I will tell you more about this set and what we ended up with.

What is a crystal growing kit?

The set was packed in a colored cardboard box. The color of the crystal that would be produced in the end was indicated on the box. When I placed the order, I chose red, it seemed the brightest to me, but the color can be changed using regular food coloring.

The box contained:

• A bag of powder that looks like salt mixed with grains of dye. This is the reagent from which the crystal is formed;
• A plastic container with a lid in which the crystal will grow;
• A pebble that will serve as the basis for a crystal;
• A spoon with which to stir the solution;
• Detailed step-by-step instructions.

How to grow a crystal

My son and I unpacked the box, laid everything out on the table and got to work. I really liked that the kit contains absolutely everything you need for the experiment, so you can feel like you’re in a real laboratory. We acted as written in the instructions. I would like to note that the instructions themselves are very detailed and written in understandable language, so my son could probably have done it alone, but still I decided to keep an eye on him, and besides, I was terribly interested myself.

So, first of all, we poured the reagent powder into a special container, then added hot water to the horizontal mark on the wall and began stirring the solution until all the grains disappeared.

Then we washed the pebble with clean water (this is done so that the crystal grows transparent) and carefully lowered it to the bottom of the container using tweezers.

After that, we tightly closed the container with a lid and placed it in a wall cabinet in the kitchen. In general, you need to think about a place for the container in advance, because it will stand there for quite a long time while the crystal grows. At this time, the container cannot be moved or even touched, so as not to harm the crystal, because even vibration from loud music or a slamming door can interfere with its formation. It will also be better if the place is dark and cool, because the slower the water evaporates from the container, the larger the crystal can grow.

A day later, in accordance with the instructions, very carefully, trying not to disturb the container, we removed the lid so that the water began to evaporate. Then we saw that our crystal appeared on the pebble.

The process began, and now we could only wait.

Our crystal grew for about ten days. All this time, the son was only thinking about the treasured container. First thing in the morning, he ran into the kitchen, climbed onto a stool, opened the cabinet door and looked at his crystal. After school the same story repeated itself. And the crystal, although slowly, grew, forming an interesting pattern. To get a better look at it, a magnifying glass came in handy.

When the top of the crystal appeared above the water, we carefully removed it from the container with tweezers and air dried it. Our crystal turned out to be about 7 centimeters in height, beautiful, transparent and very elegant; you can watch the play of light on its edges for hours. The color, however, turned out to be a little paler than on the box, but this does not spoil the crystal. The main thing is that the resulting crystal is unique and inimitable; there is no one exactly like it, and no one will have it.

The dried crystal is quite durable; it can be stored for a long time as a memory of the experiment or as a decorative element for the interior. The main thing is to protect the crystal from contact with water.

Precautionary measures

1. The materials in the kit are non-toxic and if you follow the instructions, growing your crystal is a safe process. In this case, it is better not to leave children unattended and remember some precautions:

“Magic crystals”: ​​instructions for growing at home

Before you begin your entertaining research, carefully read the instructions for using all the components of the selected set. The standard work plan is as follows:

1. Place the crystallization base in the growing container.
2. Pour hot water into the appropriate reagent.
3. Now you can add crystallization powder to the resulting solution. Add enough of it to leave undissolved grains. Once the active substance has stopped dissolving, you have a saturated solution. In this case, you should still have a few grains of the reagent left.
4. Then pour the solution into the growing container until the liquid completely covers the base. In this case, the sediment should remain in the original container.
5. Next, drop the remaining grains of reagent onto the bases for crystallization. These are the “seeds” from which your “magic” crystals will grow.

If, when pouring the solution, individual crystals float on its surface, remove them immediately. Now all that remains is to remove the container to a safe place and leave it for a while. Cover it on top with a sheet of paper if the set does not include a cover.

Crystal growth will begin almost immediately. Don't forget to keep an eye on the container. It is necessary to drain the solution as soon as one of the crystals appears on the surface. After this, you need to take them all out and dry them for 24 hours.

What to do with the grown crystal?

If you do everything according to the instructions, the crystal will turn out beautiful and interesting. You can simply keep it as a keepsake or use it in some kind of craft. Crystallization on a figured base looks especially interesting. The finished product does not require additional decor and in itself looks interesting and unusual.

Safety during crystallization experiments

The instructions for the crystal growing kit usually state that children under 14 lei should conduct the experiment under adult supervision. Follow this simple rule, and the experience will bring you only positive emotions.

The reagents included in the kit are safe. But, of course, you cannot taste them, and if they come into contact with your skin, you should immediately wash them off with water. Ready-made crystals are also completely safe; they are strong enough to be handled. Just try to avoid contact with water - liquid can ruin the result of your experiment.

Price of home crystallization kits

Now let’s calculate how much it costs to grow a crystal at home. The cost of small kits designed for growing small elements is usually 150-200 rubles. Interesting sets, which include additional elements and shaped bases, may have a higher price. For example, the “Magic Tree” (crystals here grow on the branches of the base) costs from 250 rubles.

Choose sets to suit your taste. If you wish, you can grow a whole collection of crystals of different shapes and colors with your own hands. The most important thing is to carefully study the instructions, since kits from different manufacturers may vary slightly in configuration.

Today we will talk about such necessary things in crafting as crystals and gemstones of all grades, and specifically about methods for obtaining them.

For any craft, you need crystals and gemstones of different grades, some can be bought in the store, some from the Mammon merchant in the week of the victory of the seven seals, some are obtained by breaking various things into crystals.
It makes sense to break gear (or guns) mainly only of grade D, and even then only that which is sold in stores for adena, rare things (such as parts or a top D plate set are simply a pity to break), and everything higher than D grade and even more so.
No, of course I broke both C and B and even A things (when crystals are very urgently needed - this is at the start of the server, when you simply can’t get them in other ways), and when the server is already developed, I even prefer to do it differently: when people contact me with a request to break some B and A grade thing (mainly Avadon and Zubey heavy and light bodies, as well as DK heavy and light), I simply give people the number of crystals that they will receive from breaking this thing, and I’m keeping the little thing for myself, since in any case there will be people to whom we will subsequently sell this little thing, and much more expensively than it would be in the form of crystals. Well, let’s talk about all this in more detail below:

With grade D crystals, everything is simple - we go to the weapons store in Giran, buy a D gun and break it into crystals. I have never calculated the cost of crystals received using this method, and you only need to calculate it on x1 servers; if the rates of your server are higher, then there is no point in calculating these pennies. The resulting D crystals are sold for approximately 740 adena (plus/minus, depending on the specific prices prevailing on the server).

With C crystals, everything is also simple - everything is based on the fact that low C duals can be soldered from D swords, bought in the same weapons store. Therefore, we buy the required number of D one-handed swords (I prefer to dualize Elven Sword * Elven Sword) and go to the forge of Giran to Pushkin. We dualize the bullets with him and immediately break them into crystals. The resulting Cris are sold for approximately 3,400 adena (plus/minus, depends on the specific prices prevailing on the server).

With B crystals it’s already more complicated - there are three main ways to get it:

1. Breaking a thing into crystals is a barbaric method, I personally feel sorry for it, but sometimes you have to do this. The only thing I’ll note is that never break B guns (well, except for low B guns), since any B gun is quite rare due to the difficulties in obtaining recipes for its crafting.

2. If the server is sufficiently developed and there are dual craft stamps on the server. We buy in the Luxor store in Giran for D and C crystals two C swords (I take the word of defusion), we buy a dual craft stamp as cheaply as possible (why is it cheaper? Yes, because the cost of the B crystals received will directly depend on the price of the craft stamp), we go to the blacksmith in Oren and double the B pellets using a craft stamp. We break and use the crystals for our needs. They sell B crystals from 20k to 50k (also depends on the server).

3. If the server has just opened and there are no crafting stamps, then in the week of victory of the seven seals you can exchange grade C swords from the blacksmith Mammon, which are dual in Aden without using a dual crafting stamp, but with the help of SoPs (). We buy the same word of delusion in the Giran luxor and go to the kata to look for the blacksmith of Mammon, exchange (for free) the deluges with him for a word of nightmare (Sword of Nightmare):

With grade A and S crystals everything is even worse than with the others. As you understand, crafted bullets are no longer broken here due to their high cost, so we either break cheaper gear (DK light or heavy body, Tallum light body) or buy crystals in the week of the victory of the seven seals from the merchant Mammon for ancient adena. Purchase price: A crystal - 15k AA, S crystal - 25k AA. But here it is simpler in that the A and S guns are actively sharpened, which means they are broken from time to time, so you can get the enchanter to buy up A and S crystals, sometimes you can even buy them very cheaply.

These gems can be bought in the store, just keep in mind that not every city has them. Gemstones are sold in Giran, Rune, Shuga and Goddard.

A and S gemstones are bought from the Mammon merchant in the week of victory of the seven seals for ancient adena, the price of an A gem is 30k AA, an S gemstone is 100k AA.
