Account creation

Registering an account is quite simple, there are 3 methods, let's look at each of them.

Option 1 - Registration in the browser via email

We fill in the data: country of residence and your email address. Previously, you also had to fill in your date of birth, but at the time of writing this article, this was no longer required.

If you do not want to receive news and offers from Xiaomi (in Chinese), then uncheck the box next to the inscription “Stay up to date with news and offers from the Mi Store”.

Click “Create Mi Account”.

On the next page, create and enter a password twice; it must consist of at least 8 characters and include both Latin letters and numbers.

Enter the captcha (random text from the picture) in the next window and click “Submit”.

Registration is completed. The login is your email (phone number), and the password is the one you entered during registration.

Then you must confirm your email, to which the letter will arrive within 30 minutes, do not close the registration page, it may be needed if the letter does not arrive. You just need to log into your mail in another tab and check for the letter. In the letter itself, click on the confirmation link.

If you were not redirected to your created profile, then you can log into your mi account using this link https://account.xiaomi.com

If you haven't received a confirmation email, check your spam folder. Otherwise, click "Resend Activation email" on the page you left on the previous tab. If after another 30 minutes the letter does not arrive, then you should use the second option, which is described below.

Option 2 - Registration via mobile number

Go to the registration page https://account.xiaomi.com/pass/register

Click on the button below that says “Create using a phone number.”

Select the country if it is not selected, fill in the phone number, without +7, enter the captcha (code from the picture) and click “Create Mi Account”.

You will receive an SMS with a code on your phone, enter this code and click “Next”; if the SMS does not arrive for a long time, click “Resend code”.

If you have entered the correct code, you will then be prompted to set your password; it must consist of at least 8 characters and include both Latin letters and numbers.

If everything is done correctly, you will see a smiley face on the next page.

Your mi account has been created!

Option 3 - Registration through the application

This method works for firmware based on miui 7. If for some reason you are not able to use a browser to register, you can register through the application in the same way. On your smartphone, select “Accounts” - “Mi account” - “Register mi account”.

The disadvantage of this method is that to complete the registration, your phone will send an SMS abroad (while roaming), which will cost you more than a regular SMS.

In the application, click “register”

Enter your phone number, after which you will be asked to send an SMS while roaming to complete registration, if you are ready to pay for this SMS, then click “ok”.

Your account is ready to go.

Option 4 - Registration via settings

This feature appeared in recent versions of miui (8.9). You need to go to settings and select "Mi account".

A window will open in which you can log in to your current account or register a new one, which is what we need. By default, registration will be performed by phone number; if you want to use email instead of phone, then select “Other methods” - “Registration by email”.

In this case, you will need to enter your email and come up with a password, then you will need to enter a captcha and after that you will receive an email with a link to activate your account.

Log in manually to your email, follow the link, confirm your registration, return to settings and click “Account has already been confirmed.”
Use the blue button on the screen to be redirected to your mailbox (if you have it configured in your native mail application), confirm registration using the link, go back and click “Account has already been confirmed.”

Then on the login page, click “Other methods” and select login via email, enter the address with a password and select “Login”.

Congratulations, you have successfully registered an account and logged in.

How to unlink mi account from phone

This instruction will be required if you decide to sell yours or buy someone else’s phone, since the new owner will not be able to unlink the mi account from the phone.

Go to Settings - Mi account and click the "Log out" button. You will need to enter your account password and click “OK”.

After this action, we will be asked whether we need to delete data from Mi Cloud itself. Usually, all data is left behind, so that when you log into a new device, all the information is transferred there.

Now mi account has been deleted.

This is the standard way to delete an account; there are other methods; they are needed if, for example, you forgot your account password or screen lock password and other non-standard situations. We discussed similar cases in a separate article about.

If you forgot your mi account password - recovery

If you have forgotten the password for your account, restoring it will not be a problem. This article describes brief instructions on the simplest method; you can read more in detail in a separate article about.

Via phone

Next to the window for entering the password there will be a button “Forgot your password?”, click it and we will be redirected to the official website, where you will need to enter the email or phone number for which you registered the account and click “Next”.

Then you need to confirm your email, enter the captcha and after a while you will receive a special code. If the restoration occurs through a phone number, then expect an SMS; it usually arrives within 15 minutes.

The code that you received must be entered into a special field and click “Submit”, then a form for entering a new password should appear. Fill out and select "Submit".

Congratulations, you have successfully changed your password.

Via browser

You can recover your password through a browser on your PC or mobile phone.

Go to account.xiaomi.com, select "Forgot your password", enter your email address or phone number, click "Next" and then proceed in the same way as described in the previous recovery method via phone.

Deleting mi account

If you want to stop using xiaomi devices and permanently delete your account with all data, then initially you definitely need to unlink all devices from it (smartphones, tablets, watches, sports bracelets, etc.), otherwise you may lose the ability to manage linked devices.

You need to go to the link account.xiaomi.com/pass/del and enter your username and password, if you have not previously logged into your personal account through a browser. Then you will need to confirm your intentions using the checkbox and the "Delete account" button.

The account must be linked to a mobile phone

On December 9, 2015, Steam introduced a new trade confirmation system. To sell items on our market, you will need to link your phone to your steam account. Here's how to do it RIGHT:

If the code is correct, you will be shown a recovery code for your mobile authenticator. It is needed so that you can restore access to your account if you lose your phone along with your SIM card.
