Why you can’t update iPhone 4. iOS: Download free firmware for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad of all versions, changes in the latest version of iOS

The question of how to update iOS is becoming more and more relevant as older versions of the iPhone die out. Today it will not be possible to install a new operating system on the 4th series of smartphones; there are certain restrictions. iOS 8 can no longer be called a new firmware, since it was released in 2014. iPhone 4 owners need to install the latest supported system.

If you look at the trend in the development of operating systems, then in version 7 drastic changes were made in terms of design; it was the appearance that was redesigned more than anything else. With the release of version 8, the emphasis shifted somewhat, as it focuses on increasing the functionality of the device. Thus, in iOS 8, built-in applications were redesigned, previously unavailable extensions, and functions were multiplied.

Now, to the sad news, iOS 8 firmware is not available for iPhone 4; version 7 is considered the most accessible OS. Moreover, this only applies to the pure version of the smartphone; for 4S this opportunity is already present.

How to update iPhone to iOS 8 – preparatory stage

Let's determine how to update iPhone 4 to iOS 8 based on several main methods of carrying out the procedure - through the air and iTunes. In the first case, a Wi-Fi network will be used, and in the second, a PC will be required.

In rare cases, the data storage may be cleared along with the update. Despite the small probability, it is better to prepare for the situation, although you can exclude this step. If you want to play it safe, you will first have to create a backup copy. We will not consider this aspect separately; instructions are offered on the website tvoykomputer.ru.

If you update via a PC, you should first install iTunes, and if via Wi-Fi, you will have to find a stable connection.

This is the easiest way. Requires WiFi connection during update. In addition to having Wi-Fi, make sure that your device is charged at least 50% (or better yet, connect the device to a charger). The firmware installs quickly, but it can take a long time to download over WiFi, since it depends not only on your Internet connection speed, but also on the load on Apple’s servers.

To update the firmware on the iPhone/iPad or iPod desktop, click on “”

Select (click) on “ Basic

Information about the new firmware will be downloaded and you just have to click “ Download and install“.

Be patient while the new firmware is downloaded from the Internet (download time depends on the speed of your Internet), do not interrupt the download, do not remove the device from the Wi-Fi reach.

Congratulations on the new firmware!

It's important to note that not all iOS 7 features will work on all devices.

Hi all! Quite recently I encountered such a problem - my iPhone categorically refused to update to the new firmware version, both through iTunes and iCloud. It simply displayed the message: “The installation of the software update failed. There was an error loading iOS." Although in fact the update was not only available, but had already been downloaded to the device. Mystery? Even some! But I successfully found the “solution” and now my iPhone is running the latest mobile axis.

The first thing you should pay attention to is whether your device supports the version of the software you are trying to install. For example, iOS 12 and all its modifications can be installed on:

  1. iPad mini 2nd generation, iPad Air and older.
  2. iPhone 5S and all subsequent models.
  3. iPod touch 6.

Have you checked? Does your equipment fit this list? If the answer is yes, then we proceed as follows.

In the main menu, go to settings - general - profile (at the very end of the list).

Feel free to delete everything that is there.

Reboot your phone or tablet.

After removing it, everything went “like clockwork” and took a fairly short amount of time (about 20 minutes).

In any case, here are a few more points that may interfere with the installation of new software and it makes sense to pay close attention to them:

As you can see, there is nothing complicated - all the tips are quite simple and can be easily done at home. But, at the same time, their implementation will almost 100% help install the latest version of the software on your iPhone. Which means we need to act!

Addition! Updates via Wi-Fi may be hindered by a non-functioning fingerprint scanner. Is the fingerprint sensor not working on your device for some reason? Installing a new firmware version is only possible through iTunes. And one more thing - if you are faced with the error “Unable to check for iOS update,” then . Wow, looks like I haven't forgotten anything :)

After all the manipulations done, the iPhone still does not want to update or strange errors occur? Write in the comments – we’ll figure it out together!

If you are the happy owner of a device like the iPhone 4, then you are probably interested in updating its operating system, or, more precisely, installing iOS 8.

We're always looking to learn something new and it's a pretty cool feeling when you turn on your iPhone after updating the OS. There are a lot of different features and other innovations at once.

As you know, Apple tries to keep its devices updated to the latest operating system for as long as possible. iPhone 4 is a fairly old device and therefore the following situation has arisen.

The phone was really cool, as soon as it came out in 2010, everyone wanted to buy it and nothing else. The incredible glass case looked simply amazing.

When 2013 arrived, the phone was discontinued. At that time, the leap in technology had taken place quite seriously and even the 4S version was quite significantly ahead in terms of performance.

In the same year, iOS 7 appeared, which completely changed its interface and, unfortunately, it was the first and last version of the updated OS for iPhone 4.

Typically, you can update iOS on any iPhone, including iPhone 4, in two ways:

  • over the air via Wi-Fi;
  • via iTunes.

Both methods are useless in this case, because the latest available version is iOS 7.1.2. It was made as stable as possible, but given the weak hardware, the phone lags quite a bit.

What I'm saying is that upgrading your iPhone 4 to iOS 8 is simply not possible. It simply cannot match the newer iOS with its characteristics.

There are many tweaks that help make everything as similar as possible to this OS, but my advice is to just leave everything as it is and use the phone.

Now it is nothing more than an ordinary telephone, the main function of which is to make calls. Of course, many messengers are still suitable for him, but using them is quite painful.

Results

Consider buying yourself a new device. After all, even iPhones are available at a fairly reasonable price; if not new, then they are definitely used ones in good condition.

Also, if you have no money at all, there are many good options on Android. Today there is more than enough choice, you can find something for every taste.

IPhone 4 has long been outdated and it’s simply not worth thinking about iOS 8 on it. If your phone lags too much, just clear the memory and reset the settings. Or we buy a new smartphone.
