The best push-button smartphones. Push-button phone on Android: model and reviews Phones with keys on Android

It is difficult to buy a smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard in 2019. In fact, the production of such devices is exclusively carried out by the BlackBerry brand. The good news is that he makes them very high quality. Some of the models included in the best rating were released quite a long time ago, but even today they offer buyers good opportunities and are sold on various sites. Those users who are aimed at the most modern and relevant devices should immediately scroll through the list to the end - the last two gadgets were released in 2018 and nothing newer is on sale as of March 2019.

If you go to a store that sells electronics, you will definitely pay attention to one fact. The vast majority of modern phones do not have a numeric or QWERTY keyboard. All of them are faceless in appearance, since most of the front panel is occupied by a touch screen. Where did the buttons go? Why have smartphones with push-button keyboards become so rare? It was impossible to imagine the first smart devices without a keyboard. For example, the Nokia 9210 Communicator was designed like a clamshell, with many physical buttons hidden inside it.

And a little later, Nokia N-Gage and Siemens SX1 were released. These are very different smartphones, but they both had a certain number of keys. In the mid-2000s, PDAs and communicators began to appear on store shelves, in which the number of buttons was reduced to a minimum. They were controlled by pressing the stylus on different areas of the touch screen. But the real revolutionary in this area was Apple, which was the first to release a touchscreen smartphone, which is incredibly easy to master.

Interestingly, the first Android devices were smartphones with a QWERTY keyboard. In particular, the first commercial sample was the HTC Dream, which had a retractable block with keys. Devices of this type have been produced for several years. But later, almost all manufacturers abandoned this form factor. There are several reasons for this:

  • Google recommends (but does not mandate) that you keep the number of physical keys to a minimum.
  • Smartphones with a keypad are often large and heavy.
  • Such devices are less reliable.
  • Touch control is actually simpler than button control.

BlackBerry Priv

  • Operating system: Android 5.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 808 MSM8992 (6 cores, 1.8 GHz)
  • Memory size: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display: 5.43 inches, AMOLED, 2560 x 1440 pixels

Price: from 22,990 rub.

In 2016, the blackberry company unexpectedly released a push-button smartphone on Android, forgetting about its own operating system. This worked to the benefit of BlackBerry Priv, since its customers can install a huge number of applications, while the Canadian operating system offers a very modest selection.

The characteristics of the device are all right. The smartphone has a good processor and sufficient RAM. All this allows you to run even very heavy programs and games. At the same time, the keyboard does not interfere at all, since it is implemented on a retractable principle - most of the time you simply do not see it. A slider with a QWERTY keyboard is not only convenient, but also original.

It should be noted that this is the last device from the Canadian brand, which was produced at the facilities of BlackBerry itself. Subsequently, the creation of smartphones under this brand was entrusted to the holders of the Alcatel trademark - TCL. The BlackBerry Priv only disappoints with its high price and plastic body. But we can easily come to terms with the second drawback, because it provided the device with at least some reasonable weight (192 grams).

Advantages

  • High resolution AMOLED display.
  • 18-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture.
  • Convenient slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
  • LTE support.
  • Supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac standard.
  • Long battery life.

Flaws

  • Old version of Android.
  • Some people will find it heavy.
  • Very high cost.

BlackBerry Q10

  • Operating system: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Snapdragon S4 Plus (2 cores, 1.5 GHz)
  • Memory size: 2 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.1 inches, AMOLED, 720 x 720 pixels

Price: from 12,990 rub.

This smartphone is made in a traditional form factor. Its main difference from most modern monoblocks is the QWERTY keyboard present here. All buttons have a short but noticeable stroke, making text typed very quickly. It should also be noted that the build quality is high - usually a smartphone does not lose its presentation even after a year of use.

The screen of such a device cannot be large. But the Canadians managed to significantly increase the resolution, thanks to which many controls and various information can be placed on the display. There is an NFC chip in the model, but within the operating system installed here it is practically useless. It is noteworthy that the device’s screen was created using AMOLED technology. Organic LEDs significantly save energy, as a result of which the device has to be charged once every one and a half to two days. You can only find fault with the operating system, which can now safely be called outdated.

In 2019, the model will appeal to true fans of correspondence, which is much more convenient on a physical keyboard than on a touch-screen counterpart.

Advantages

  • No noticeable pixelation.
  • Reliable data encryption.
  • Not a bad 8 megapixel camera.
  • Classic QWERTY keyboard.
  • Not the shortest operating time.

Flaws

  • A limited operating system in many ways.
  • Weak filling.
  • High price.

BlackBerry Passport

  • Operating system: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AA (4 cores, 2.2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1440 x 1440 pixels

Price: from 20,999 rub.

This is a symbol of its era. The latest device built on the BlackBerry OS operating system. Its creators decided to abandon the now traditional design, maximizing the width of the device. As a result, they managed to endow the smartphone not only with a fairly comfortable QWERTY keyboard, but also with a screen that actually became classic - until 2019, BlackBerry stuck to a 4.5-inch matrix. One can only regret that AMOLED technology had to be abandoned. Because of this, the battery life did not increase (although the battery capacity increased), and the color rendition became not so good.

In fact, this is the best push-button smartphone based on BlackBerry OS. It contains good components, so the user does not experience any slowdowns, and all applications load almost instantly. The main camera, which has a 13-megapixel sensor and optical image stabilization, should also please. Well, support for LTE-A category four facilitates very fast data transfer. Finally, the metal body will maintain its perfect appearance for many years. It’s surprising that with all this, the device weighs no more than 196 grams.

Advantages

  • Work in LTE-A networks.
  • Good display resolution.
  • Decent components.
  • Housing made of metal and plastic.
  • The main camera is complemented by an optical stabilizer.
  • Not the highest price.

Flaws

  • Some buyers will find the weight too heavy.
  • The front camera is weak - 2 MP.

BlackBerry Porsche design P’9983

  • operating roomsystem: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Qualcomm MSM8960 (2 cores, 1.5 GHz)
  • Memory size: 2 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.1 inches, 720 x 720 pixels

Price: from 44,500 rub.

Perhaps this is the most beautiful device with smartphone functions among those with a QWERTY keyboard. Although the device is far from new, it still has a large amount of memory. It is also impossible not to note the possibility of transmitting data via LTE networks, which sometimes even modern devices do not have.

The main camera is 8 megapixels. The resolution of the front camera was suddenly increased to 2 megapixels, which is quite unexpected for a Canadian company. Of course, such a camera cannot be used to take selfies, but video communication with its help is quite possible. It’s hard to imagine the owner of a BlackBerry Porsche design P’9983 who wouldn’t have enough of this. And if so, a microSD card slot will come to the rescue.

Advantages

  • Stylish metal body.
  • LTE support.
  • Large amount of memory.

Flaws

  • Not the longest operating time.
  • Outdated operating system.
  • Incredibly high cost.

BlackBerry KEYone

  • Operating system: Android 7.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 (8 cores, 2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display:

Price: from 21,500 rubles.

All of the above devices were released at a time when BlackBerry was an independent company. During the same period, the brand collaborated with TCL Mobile, providing them with its own services. The product of cooperation between the two companies was DTEK smartphones - clones of Alcatel, but with software from BlackBerry. In 2017, TCL Mobile finally bought BlackBerry and the KEYone model became its first product. What is noteworthy is that it was created even before the consolidation of assets, but appeared on sale after. Due to the absence of any current alternative (all of the above models are quite old), this device became a real gift for fans of smartphones with a QWERTY keyboard in 2017. There are few fans, but for their sake the devices continue to be released and the result is very interesting.

Visually, the device was a return to classic phones with a keyboard. At the same time, the device is slightly larger than the now familiar touch devices. It has an impressive thickness of 9.4 mm, a heavy weight of 180 grams and an extremely interesting combination of materials. The side edge is aluminum. The back cover is plastic with a velvety surface and texture. This whole combination feels pleasant in the hands, and the user immediately understands that he is holding a serious gadget. The manufacturer tried to make a noticeable device, so all the elements here are large - the camera, logo, control buttons. Everything is catchy, but not pretentious.

The model received a small display with sufficient resolution for its size. In terms of detail, it's good, but traditionally BlackBerry lacks brightness. Because of this, using the device in the sun is not very comfortable. The video is displayed more than well, despite the 3 to 2 ratio, but playing in landscape orientation is inconvenient. The reason here is that the keyboard is outweighed - holding the smartphone in this position for a long time is tiring.

The 3505 mAh battery provides 2 days of operation under medium loads. If you use the gadget more actively, it will still last a day. This is a very good indicator. In addition, there is fast charging. The device received 3/32 GB of memory, the main drive is expandable up to 2 TB, a combination slot. The chipset is Snapdragon 625, not the most powerful, but it is quite enough for this smartphone. Cameras – 12 and 8 megapixels. They take good quality pictures and have all the modern features like facial enhancement and the like. Maximum video resolution is 4K. Of course, the device will not be appreciated by photography fans, but most users will like the result.

The KEYone smartphone offers all proprietary software related to the protection of user data - BB Hub, Password Keeper and others. In fact, it is impossible to steal information from a BlackBerry. For many people in the modern world, this is a powerful argument. It is worth mentioning that the model received all modern wired and wireless interfaces - Type-C, WI-Fi ac. Regarding the keyboard, not everything is simple either. First of all, you can assign a quick call to a particular function to each button. At the same time, they support long and short presses. There are all the usual combinations - ctrl+c, ctrl+v and others to simplify working with text. The manufacturer did not forget about continuous input - you can swipe over the desired letters to form a word (analogous to a touch keyboard). The fingerprint scanner is hidden in the space button.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • By 2019 standards, the main drive is small, but the slot is combined.
  • Insufficient screen brightness.
  • Inconvenient to play in landscape orientation.

BlackBerry KEY 2

  • Operating system: Android 8.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 660 SDM660 (8 cores, up to 2.2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1620 x 1080 pixels

Price: from 35,000 rubles.

The Key 2 smartphone from BlackBerry has become the company's most powerful device. Compared to the KEYone, the device has changed visually and has also become more interesting in terms of hardware. In terms of materials, the manufacturer, as before, opted for 7000 series aluminum for the frame and unusual plastic with a rubberized surface for the back cover. Due to this, the phone turned out to be non-slippery, very comfortable in the hand and it is almost impossible to smear it. An interesting feature is related to the glass coating. The previous model used Gorilla Glass 4, in this case the 3rd generation was used. This is due to the fact that the device has small frames around the screen, which prevents it from being hit, and in addition, the weight has been shifted towards the keyboard. If the smartphone falls, it will hit the keyboard. At the same time, the 3rd generation of protective glass is more scratch-resistant. It turns out that it is almost impossible to break or scratch it - unless, of course, you do this purposefully with a direct blow. Another pleasant change is that the matrix has become brighter. The indicator is 550 nits, which is quite enough even in bright light. The company took into account the mistakes of past years and finally corrected the situation. The fingerprint scanner, as before, is hidden in the “space”.

Battery – 3500 mAh with Quick Charge 3.0. The charge is enough for 2 days of work. As before, the device has all wireless interfaces - NFC, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0. The new product received a good 8 MP selfie camera, as well as a dual matrix on the back – 12+12 MP. Now the smartphone can do Bokeh and it turns out more than worthy. Another nice feature is Slo-mo shooting. It is worth noting that the camera is inferior to numerous competitors in the same price segment, but do not forget - first of all, the BlackBerry KEY 2 is a working tool. Given this positioning, there can be no complaints about the camera.

In terms of performance, the phone turned out to be very thoughtful. We chose Snapdragon 660 as the processor and this is a tribute to the best combination of speed and autonomy. For the tasks for which the device is designed, it is quite sufficient. There is no point in discussing memory, everything is excellent here - 6 GB of RAM and a choice of 64 or 128 GB of ROM. Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android 8.1, but the company promises an update to the next version 9.0. Naturally, all branded applications for optimization and safety during operation are present.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • Considering the positioning, there are no downsides.

BlackBerry KEY 2 LE

  • Operating system: Android 8.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 636 (8 cores, up to 2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1620 x 1080 pixels

Price: from 26,900 rubles.

BlackBerry KEY 2 LE came out a little later than its older brother KEY 2 and actually became its budget version. The model has received visual changes - in design and keyboard it is closer to the KEYone, but the smartphone is lighter. The frame is made of metal, the back panel is branded plastic, but with a new texture. The new product is distinguished by new colors - red, bronze and black. The frame and frets of the keyboard are painted in them. This looks really interesting.

The new product runs on Snapdragon 636, which is an intermediate option between the chipsets of the first and second versions of the model. Memory – 4/64 GB. All this is quite enough for everyday work. The battery turned out to be the smallest - 3000 mAh, but at the same time it can easily withstand a working day. There is fast charging. The gadget was equipped with a dual camera – 13+5 megapixels with all the capabilities that the older version has. The front module is 8 megapixels with flash. In terms of software options, the device completely replicates KEY 2. OS – Android 8.1 with an update to the next version.

In fact, this device was released for those who are closer to the KEYone design, but need the capabilities of KEY 2. In addition, in comparison with the latter, the new product is better in price.

Advantages:

  • Current OS with update to a newer version.
  • High quality cameras.
  • Decent performance.
  • Proprietary software.
  • Interesting body colors.
  • NFC support.

Flaws:

  • Compared to previous models, the device is not as autonomous, but in general it will be enough for a day of work.

Samsung Galaxy Y Pro

  • Operating system: Android 2.3
  • CPU: Broadcom BCM21553 (1 core, 832 MHz)
  • Memory size: 384 MB RAM and 160 MB ROM
  • Display: 2.6 inches, TFT, 240 x 320 pixels

Price: less than 7000 rub.

At one time, push-button Android smartphones were produced by many large companies. A good example of this is the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro. It's a pity that the South Koreans never produced a successor to this model. Now it is quite outdated - applications for Android 2.3 are almost no longer developed. But if you have recently used a QWERTY smartphone from Nokia based on Symbian, then the South Korean product may well suit you.

The device with a quarter keyboard for Android turned out to be very light - its weight does not exceed 108 grams. The keys are pressed clearly, their mechanism is made according to the traditional system - they should withstand at least a couple of years of active use. As for wireless networks, there is support for 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Only the minimum amount of RAM can confuse you, which makes using some services very difficult. And the screen could have been installed better, because the TFT matrix is famous for its minimal viewing angles.

Advantages

  • Minimum weight;
  • Comfortable keyboard;
  • Not the largest sizes;
  • Optimal price tag.

Flaws

  • Old version of the operating system;
  • Weak components;
  • Camera resolution is only 3.2 megapixels;
  • Simple display.

Runbo X3

  • Operating system: Android 4.0
  • CPU: MediaTek MT6577 (2 cores, 1.2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 1 GB RAM and 4 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.5 inches, 480 x 800 pixels

Price: 10,000 rub.

This device not only has a QWERTY keyboard, but also a protected case. Practice shows that it is impossible to use it constantly to type a large number of texts. But such a device performs well in field conditions. The creators also assume that their creation will be used when traveling and at work under the most severe conditions of use. It is possible to break Runbo X3, but with incredible difficulty. The device does not have the worst components.

Most of all, the buyer should be pleased with the camera, which has an 8-megapixel resolution. And the LED flash will not only help make the photo brighter, but also allow you to find something lost in the bushes. There is also a front-facing camera, but its resolution is so low that it is better to forget about its existence. As for wireless modules, the device assumes its use in 3G networks. There is also a stably functioning navigation module that interacts with GPS satellites. If you haven't gone very far from urban areas, you can listen to FM radio. The smartphone is also capable of operating in walkie-talkie mode using the PTT Walkie Talkie 5km 400-470 MHz module.

Advantages

  • Decent components;
  • Protection from moisture and shock;
  • Not a bad main camera;
  • Small but clear display;
  • Built-in walkie-talkie.

Flaws

  • The keyboard cannot be called very comfortable;
  • Heavy weight (245 grams);
  • The operating time could have been longer.

DELL Venue Pro

  • Operating system: Windows Phone 7
  • CPU: Qualcomm QSD8250 (1 core, 1 GHz)
  • Memory size: 512 MB RAM and 8 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.1 inches, AMOLED, 480 x 800 pixels

Price: 28,000 rub.

When listing smartphone manufacturers, you probably won’t remember DELL. This company works closely with Microsoft, creating quite good laptops and all-in-one PCs. From time to time this manufacturer indulges in experiments. One of them resulted in the birth of DELL Venue Pro.

This is a slider running the seventh version of the mobile operating system from Microsoft. As usual, it does not consume resources, and therefore we recommend not paying attention to weak components. Although I would like more permanent memory, because there is no slot for microSD here. This smartphone with a sliding QWERTY keyboard cannot boast of a very high display resolution. But it is not so low that the pixelation is clearly noticeable. You can buy a smartphone with a push-button keyboard just to type a lot of text. The operating system contributes to this - it interacts perfectly with Word and Excel. But in other respects, it loses to Android, since the number of applications developed for it is very limited. It is also impossible not to note the weak camera by today’s standards and the very decent weight of the device, equal to 192 grams.

Advantages

  • An original form factor by modern standards;
  • Well-implemented work with text documents;
  • Braking is extremely rare;
  • Pleasant to the touch plastic.

Smartphone T112. In terms of characteristics, everything is pretty bad there: old Android 4.4 KitKat, 2-megapixel rear camera, 0.3-megapixel front camera, 4 GB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM, 2000 mAh battery, 2.8" screen with a resolution of 320x240 points, that is, QVGA... The processor is Qualcomm Snapdragon 210, four cores with a frequency of 1.1 GHz, thanks to the built-in modem it supports 4G cellular networks. The price of the smartphone is 399 yuan (about 4,000 rubles). It’s not even really a smartphone, but rather a push-button phone.

After the success of fully touchscreen smartphones, push-button phones began to be systematically forced out of the market; now they are mainly ultra-budget devices without any mobile Internet, rarely equipped with a 0.3 MP camera. Those who are devoted to push-button phones have to either look for rare models with more or less normal characteristics, or use old devices, the characteristics of which were often much better. It is very difficult to create an advanced push-button phone in 2016; there is neither suitable software nor dialer-oriented hardware with more or less acceptable characteristics. But there is demand! In many countries (the USA, for example) it is even growing.

Ytone V4

A way out of the situation was found in the creation of push-button phones based on Android. Not only the unknown Tangwei was involved in this. Take a look at the Chinese TENAA certifiers - almost three dozen similar phones have appeared there in recent months. Of the well-known companies, only ZTE joined this movement; the remaining products were created by completely unknown companies. I'll list, perhaps: Desay, RuiTel, Koomii, Sop, Ytone, Tetc, Leway, Lovme, Lephone, Hemi, Coobe, Sintave, JXD, Bihee, Rtomto, BF, Noain, Htfpos, Huana, Bai Mi, JKL, Ecetd, X -honor and Microsun.

Desay D100

The devices have screens with diagonals from 2.4" to 3.5" with a resolution of 320x240 or 480x320 pixels. All of them support LTE, usually only the TD-LTE standard; these models use a MediaTek MT6735 processor. Those models with Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (there are a minority of them) also support FDD-LTE, which is more common outside of China. The volume of internal memory is from 4 to 8 GB, RAM is 512 MB or 1 GB. There are usually two cameras, the resolution is no more than 2 megapixels. There are exceptions, for example, the Desay D100 has no cameras at all. Batteries – usually between 1500 mAh and 3000 mAh.

RugGear RG310 Voyager and Kyocera Gratina 4G KYF31

Not only in China you can find Android-based dialers. In Russia, for example, there is a protected RugGear RG310. It costs 14,990 rubles, and is equipped with a dual-core MediaTek MT6572; Google Play is there. This, by the way, is not entirely usual: in order to attract amateurs of simple phones, all the “complex” features of smartphones are often hidden from users. This is, for example, what Japanese manufacturers are doing, since the beginning of last year they have been actively converting their clamshells to Android. The first was Sharp with its Aquos K SHF31, later Fujitsu and Kyocera followed suit. There is no Google Play on their Android phones. And Android is almost never mentioned in advertising materials: for manufacturers these are still dialers, only for the sake of their further development they have to use smartphone hardware and software.

Another striking example from Japan is OLA Hello Kitty Figurine KT-01. It's hard to recognize this clamshell kitten as an Android smartphone, but that's what it is. Apparently, without the involvement of the “green robot,” OLA was unable to implement support for 3G and Wi-Fi cellular networks (the latter is necessary to update the kitten’s software over the air). That is, Android is clearly not used here for its own sake, it simply turns out to be necessary to implement all those functions that OLA wanted to see in the “figurine”. By the way, today the start of sales of this strange device took place.

Do you think there is a future for “advanced simple phones” running on Android? Or has the development of push-button telephones turned in the wrong direction? Share your thoughts in the comments.

A push-button keyboard, and specifically a smartphone, is a very rare phenomenon. Smartphone in concept, phone having a full-fledged operating system. As for modern models, the situation is even worse.

Of course, a sophisticated user will be able to find such models, but the choice is so small that modern models can literally be counted on one hand. This is more or less the case with older models, but it’s worth realizing that these smartphones appeared at the dawn of the development of the smartphone as such, when manufacturers had not yet decided to abandon buttons. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect any good characteristics, good performance, or just good screens from them.

Always a push-button smartphone with a large screen, either not a candy bar (slider, clamshell, especially in older models), or a relatively large diagonal, by modern standards of a large screen (from 6 inches). The presence of moving parts introduces additional inconveniences: frequent failure of the cable connecting the display and the phone. Whoever had a slider knows, on average, after a year the cable will break. And the presence of buttons already requires space on the front panel of phones; we won’t find such large screens as on the Samsung Galaxy S4, Iphone 6 and other flagships.

Modern push-button smartphones

Our first contender, BQ Berkeley (BQS-3552), is the only Android smartphone on our market with a QWERTY keyboard.
Peculiarities:

  • The screen diagonal is 3.5 inches - this is larger than any push-button phone (the maximum is 2.8), the resolution is 480×320, with a density of 165 ppi.
  • MediaTek MT6572 dual-core processor with 512 mV RAM
  • Android 4.2

Conclusion: The screen is rather weak by modern standards. Therefore, it is a good choice as a dialer, and a worthy alternative to simple phones with buttons.

Another worthy and even more interesting candidate is Sonim XP6
Peculiarities:

  • The IP 67 protected housing also complies with US military standard MIL-STD 810G. What this means for the user is that it can withstand a fall from a height of 2 m, a temperature range of -20 to +55, and is resistant to immersion in water and various aggressive environments. It’s not at all scary to drop, an indestructible phone, for active people.
  • Capacious battery 4800 mAh
  • 2.63″ diagonal at 320 x 432 resolution
  • Android 4.4

Conclusion: of course, its main advantage is its strength, which cancels out all its shortcomings in terms of weak hardware and screen resolution.

Old models

These are the different and exotic models of push-button smartphones you can find. But there are even more exotic ones at the moment:

Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro SK17i

  • Android 2.3
  • QWERTY keyboard
  • screen 3″, resolution 320×480
  • 5 MP camera, autofocus
  • memory 400 MB, microSD slot (TransFlash)
  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS
  • battery 1200 mAh
  • weight 136 g, WxHxD 53x92x18 mm

Nokia E90

When the top-end communicator, the ultimate dream in its time, but too specific and expensive. Even now it costs about 3 thousand rubles. The diagonal is as much as 4 inches. Works under Symbian. Nokia has released several cheaper smartphones in this form factor: Nokia 9300i and Nokia 9300.

Their characteristics in modern times can only cause bewilderment, since in the same price category you can buy much more worthy smartphones, even without a physical keyboard. I advise you to buy only for fans of retro phones to touch the history.

As you can see, the choice of smartphones is very small. The sensor fits better with the concept of a smart phone, and allows you to fully reveal the very essence of a smartphone, and make simply huge screens.

It's been a long time, but manufacturers are considering new possibilities for combining the concept of a smartphone and a hardware keyboard. One way or another, today there is an acute shortage of mobile devices with full-fledged diggers. This is due not only to nostalgia for classic phones that are becoming a thing of the past, but also to a practical factor. Despite all the advantages of touch devices, the actual feel of the buttons becomes an advantage in the rain or in other difficult operating conditions. Against this background, the only alternative is a smartphone with a push-button keyboard made according to the QWERTY standard. It must be said that today this direction of development is gradually losing relevance, but several worthy models of such a device can still be found.

Manufacturers of push-button smartphones

Perhaps the best company to master the QWERTY keyboard is BlackBerry. This brand regularly releases smartphones with buttons, the latest of which is the Q10. Developments from budget manufacturers Runbo and Alcatel are also noteworthy. Of course, the products of these brands are mostly attractive due to their low prices, but the technological performance of push-button devices is worthy of praise. But Nokia push-button smartphones are not so widely represented. During the popularity of this segment, the Finnish manufacturer managed to release several interesting models, but the company still devoted its main efforts to sensory developments. It is important to note that the QWERTY keyboard is quite specific in its configuration, which is why such devices do not have serious success on the market. Nevertheless, wanting to cover the maximum spectrum of consumers, some companies still developed this concept. How successfully this turns out can be judged by the average characteristics of such a phone.

Model characteristics

When it comes to performance, almost all of the most notable recent devices come with dual-core processors. RAM is rarely less than 2 GB, and the data capacity is fully consistent with the capabilities of touchscreen models. Screens rarely boast decent sizes, but there are exceptions. For example, the push-button Android smartphone Runbo X3 is equipped with a display whose resolution is 800x480. The latest models of touch devices usually use a 5 MP camera. However, developers of keyboard analogues do not skimp on the number of characters - most devices of this type are equipped with 8-megapixel modules. Another thing is that the quality of the resulting images is quite modest, despite the matrices.

It is worth noting another characteristic that is significant for all smartphones - battery capacity. In the case of push-button versions, problems with battery life are not so acute. The average battery capacity range is 2,000 mAh, but there are exceptions. For example, push-button smartphones from BlackBerry with small screens have a smaller volume, and the mentioned Runbo X3 is equipped with a 3800 mAh battery.

The most successful devices

In addition to the models described, it is worth noting offers from Nokia and Alcatel. Thus, the E5 device with a good camera and decent functionality stands out under the Finnish brand. It is worth noting that in the development of keyboard devices, the experience of developers in the layout of the case plays an important role. And Nokia did it very well. Therefore, if you need to choose the best push-button smartphone with QWERTY technology, then the E5 has a chance to become a leader. Alcatel's OneTouch 916D can also compete for the championship. Again, the model is notable for its appearance - by the way, it has received separate awards for its design. In other parameters everything is also decent. The smartphone holds a charge well, works with two SIM cards and does not cause any particular complaints regarding reliability,

Positive reviews about push-button smartphones

As a rule, such gadgets are chosen by users who are initially prepared for the difficulties of handling an unusual push-button configuration. Therefore, there are a lot of laudatory reviews, and they all mostly come down to the merits of ergonomics. Of course, calling such a layout convenient can be done with serious reservations, but the very approach to typing through the QWERTY system certainly evokes admiration among those who are accustomed to small keys. It is also worth noting the high functionality. According to users, in some positions push-button smartphones are superior to touch-screen counterparts. First of all, this relates to communication capabilities. Since a step has been taken in this direction through the hardware and design part, then the internal filling should not lag behind - this can explain the desire of manufacturers to increase functionality.

Negative reviews

Still, there are many users who have not appreciated the convenience of push-button smart phones. Even if we do not take into account the shortcomings of a small keyboard, owners note modest ones. The block with the keyboard in any case crowds the location of the display, which is why it is necessary to either shorten the screen or increase the overall dimensions of the device. Therefore, push-button smartphones attract especially sharp criticism from those who like to exchange photos, watch videos, and play games. It turns out that the user gets the same hardware, but in a more modest design, and in addition gets an uncomfortable keyboard. It is clear that this segment never became widespread.

Conclusion

Despite differences in views on the advantages and disadvantages of smartphones with a keyboard, the demand for mechanical typing with the same function control remains. And push-button smartphones that implement a QWERTY configuration remain the only worthy offer for buyers with such requirements. But there is one more nuance - the fact is that the touchscreen device could remain a push-button device without the “button-symbol” system. The revolutionary nature of keyboard devices lay not in the maximum presentation of the button layout directly in the user’s palm, but in the thoughtful combination of a “smart” phone and physically felt keys.
