Instructions (manual) for microwave (microwave) ovens LG MS2042G, MS2042GB, MS2044J, MS2047C: RT service center. How to set the time on the microwave How to set the time on the microwave

We have to spend a considerable amount of time in the kitchen: we cook and eat food there, wash dishes and clean surfaces, drink tea and talk long evenings. It is very convenient to be near the clock, with them home time management will be more effective. To do this, it is not necessary to buy an additional device, you can easily set the time on the microwave.

How to adjust the time display

In models of microwave ovens from different manufacturers, the clock display function is arranged in a similar way. The interface differs: the location and name of the buttons, the digital display. In some mechanically controlled appliances, the design does not allow you to set the current time, it is only possible to set the desired cooking duration on the timer.

Clock on display

Setting the clock in different microwaves

Samsung brand ovens have a clock setting function that shows the time in one of two formats. When you turn on the microwave in the network, the number zero flashes on the display. To control, press the button with the dial and select the mode: day or half. Next, to set the desired number of hours, use the keys with the image of the arrows "up" and "down". Lock with clock button. Adjust the minutes in this way and secure with a “dial”.

The Mystery Microwave Chamber is also equipped with an electronic display that displays the current time when no cooking is in progress. In the latter case, the duration of the specified mode is lit on the screen. The first switching on of the stove is accompanied by a sound signal, and the digital designation “1:01” flashes on the display. The range can be set from 01 to 12 by clicking the "Clock" icon. The current settings are reset using the icon in the Cancel menu. To set the correct time, sequentially press the "1 minute" key as many times as hours, fix it by touching the "Hours" pointer. Do the same with minutes.

Time on the Mystery microwave display

The LG microwave oven has the same principle: the number of hours and minutes is selected with the buttons, confirmed by pressing the key on which the dial icon is located. Example of setting the time 13:25 in the daily format:

  • clear the settings using the "Stop \ Reset" button;
  • press "Clock" twice, select the display in the whole day mode;
  • impulsively press on "10 minutes" until we reach the display of the number "13";
  • using the “1 minute” button, set the number of tens of minutes, that is, press twice;
  • the remaining five minutes will be given by the "10 seconds" button, which should be pressed five times;
  • the result is fixed with the “Clock” icon.

If you need to correct the set indicators, you can do this by touching the "Stop / Reset" function.

With each power outage, the time is reset, and you need to re-set it on the screen.

Mechanics and electronics

Appliances equipped with a manual cooking mode control are not designed to show the hours. Such microwaves are easy to operate and affordable, but this does not mean that they are worse than expensive ones. In simplified models, there are usually two knobs, turning one of them in a circle, you set the power or mode. The second serves to start the reverse timer and is most often used to heat food.

Microwave with mechanical control

The electronic type of control gives microwave ovens more functionality. Touch buttons located on the front panel are needed to select a program. If there is a specific task to heat food, then you can use one of the keys that indicate minutes and seconds. A clock is built into these microwaves; after installation, the current time will be displayed on the display. To reset and change the settings, you need to enter the "Clock" menu, then press the "Stop" or "Cancel" button.

Cooking modes for different products

Each type of dish has its own cooking time. The setting of the minutes on the timer or touch panel depends on the recipe, the amount of food and the desired option. In the microwave, you can cook porridge and vegetables, bake an omelet and a cake, make steam cutlets or fish. Most modern appliances support the defrosting function: microwaves gently penetrate the structure of the frozen product and thaw it, almost without heating. Models with an electronic menu are equipped with a set of different programs for automatic cooking. The most popular heating mode, which is supported by all microwave ovens.

Soft menu bar

Delay start is another useful option. The menu pre-sets the time when the start will work and the microwave will turn on the desired mode. At the end of the cooking time, the timer will automatically stop the process. When using this function, it is important to ensure that the time is entered into the device's memory correctly. Then there will be no unpleasant surprises.

You will learn more about the clock setting function and the purpose of the menu buttons from the instructions for the microwave oven.

A microwave oven is a good household purchase. Thanks to it, you can cook various dishes quickly and tasty. It is also very easy to heat them up. As soon as such a thing appears in the house, you immediately want to use it as soon as possible, reading the instructions, trial manipulations, etc. begins.

Time

An important issue in using the microwave is setting the time. Usually the main points are indicated in the instructions. Most modern ovens are equipped with a display that shows the time. In order to initially set the clock, you must use the adjusting buttons. If the microwave oven has touch controls, there are special marks for this. If the control is mechanical, there is usually no clock.

In addition to the main time, there is a time for cooking or heating food. Its correct installation will avoid problems with undercooked or overheated food. Let's look at the timer setting in more detail.

Different products, different times

Indeed, setting the cooking timer will directly depend on the type of food, as well as the actions to be taken with them. For example, it takes 60 seconds for water to boil in a cup or glass. But cooking, say, chicken or steak will take at least 30-40 minutes.

Mechanical control

The cost of the microwave itself will tell you the type of its control. The cheapest models are the simplest. By the way, it is worth noting here that cheap microwaves are no worse than expensive ones in terms of performance. They just don't have as much functionality. As a rule, in inexpensive models there are 2 knobs, the scrolling of which regulates cooking. The first knob is the cooking time, the second is the power level or mode of action. The power setting mode is necessary in order to perform various actions. Since one product is cooked exclusively at high power, while the other needs a minimum. For example, the process of defrosting food. Usually, for this, the switch knob is set to minimum power, and the timer knob is set to 3 minutes.

I must say that in simple ovens, on the handle itself or on the places along its circumference, the time for which the oven is set is indicated. By moving the regulator to the desired position, the required operating time is set.

Electronic control

More difficult to handle are electronically controlled microwave ovens. However, in most of them, the timer does not need to be set by yourself. You just need to select the desired product from the list of proposed and the cooking option. Such units themselves program the required amount of time for cooking. But they provide a timer, which is necessary in the preparation of those options for dishes that are not on the list. As a rule, the timer buttons or pointers with touch control are located separately at the bottom or top of the panel. One indicates the number of minutes, the second indicates the number of seconds. However, depending on the models, the buttons may differ.

Setting the time on the microwave with this control is even easier. Usually, there is another special button to return to the "factory settings" of the timer or clock. As a rule, it is used if the time has been programmed incorrectly.

Cooking delay

Another useful feature related to time. Some models have special functions that allow you to perform a whole series of manipulations in cooking. For example, delaying cooking. With the help of special buttons, the timer is set for the time or after the time that is needed. This is very convenient when you need to leave or do several things at the same time, so as not to forget about the dish being prepared.

And in conclusion, it remains to sum up. Setting the time for microwaves depends on what time (that is, what type needs to be set, whether it is a clock or a cooking timer), as well as on the type of control of the microwave oven.

When buying a microwave oven, the user is in a hurry to sort out all of its functionality, master the management of programs and modes in order to learn how to use the technique without additional questions. One of these functions is the time on the microwave, which is equipped with almost all modern microwave ovens.

Microwave time

Before setting the time on the microwave, you should look into the user manual - it describes the setup process in detail, often in pictures. Buttons or touch keys are used for setting, depending on the type of control. Models on the mechanics, as a rule, do not have a clock - there is only a timer.

An example for setting up a Samsung ME82VR-WWH microwave:

In addition to displaying real time, you can set the time for heating, cooking or defrosting food. Correct installation hourly settings will save you from spoiled, overcooked and too dry dishes.

Timing by product type and management

The nuances of setting the time differ depending on the type of control of the microwave oven.

mechanical type

In the most budget models, the parameters are adjusted using one of the two knobs. One of them is needed to regulate the cooking time, the second is used to adjust the power level. Even in the simplest oven, minutes are written around the timer knob, so there will be no problems with which position to turn the knob to.

Electronics

Electronics is complex, but in the latest models, manufacturers have relieved the user of the need to select the cooking time: just select a product or dish from the list, and automatic program she will take care of the cooking process by programming the right time for cooking the dish. Don't worry - such ovens also have a timer, it is used in cases where a particular dish is not on the list.

Usually, the timer control buttons on the keypads or touch panels are placed separately - in the upper or lower part of the panel. One button - to select minutes, the second - seconds, but the designs and variations in the execution of the timer depending on the manufacturer and model may vary.

Delayed start

In modern Samsung, Siemens or LG microwaves, there is another convenient feature, such as a delay start. There are special buttons with which the desired time is set, and after it the cooking process starts. It is very convenient if you are doing several things at the same time or circumstances require your absence from the kitchen.

Cautions

Precautions to avoid possible overexposure to microwave energy

Thanks to interlocking contacts built into the oven door mechanism, you cannot turn on the oven with the door open. These interlock contacts ensure that any cooking mode is automatically turned off when the door is opened, because if this is not done in the case of a microwave oven, you may be exposed to harmful microwave energy.
It is important not to try to do anything with the blocking contacts.
Do not insert any objects between the oven door and the front panel and do not allow food residues or detergent deposits to accumulate on the sealing surfaces.

Do not use a damaged oven.
It is especially important that the oven door closes securely and that there is no damage to: (1) door (bent), (2) hinges and latches (broken or loose), (3) door seals and sealing surfaces.
The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone other than a qualified microwave technician.

Warning
Please always check that you have set the cooking time correctly, as cooking too long may cause food to ignite and subsequently damage the oven.

When heating liquids such as soups, sauces, and drinks in your microwave oven, the liquid may overheat above the boiling point without visible vapor bubbles. This can lead to unexpected boiling of the superheated liquid. To avoid this possibility, the following measures must be taken:

1. Avoid using cylindrical vessels with a narrow neck.
2. Do not overheat liquid.
3. Stir the liquid before placing the vessel in the oven and then stir it again after half the preheat time has elapsed.
4. After heating is complete, let the jar stand in the oven for a while, then gently stir the liquid again or shake the jar and check the temperature of the liquid before using it to avoid burns (especially bottles and jars of baby food).

Warning
Always let food stand after cooking with microwave energy and check
food temperature before eating. This applies in particular to the contents of bottles and jars of baby food.

How does a microwave oven work

Microwaves are a form of energy similar to the electromagnetic waves used in radio and television broadcasts and ordinary daylight.
Normally, electromagnetic waves propagate outward through the atmosphere and disappear into space without a trace. However, microwave ovens have a magnetron which is designed in such a way that the energy contained in microwaves can be used. The electricity conducted to the magnetron is used to generate microwave energy. Microwaves enter the cooking area through openings inside the oven. At the bottom of the oven is a rotating turntable or tray. Microwaves cannot penetrate the metal walls of the oven, but they can penetrate materials such as glass, porcelain, and paper, materials that are used to make microwave-safe cookware.
Microwaves do not heat the dishes, however, the dishes are heated by the heat generated in the food.

VERY SAFE DEVICE

Your microwave oven is one of the safest pieces of equipment. As soon as the door is opened, the oven automatically stops producing microwaves. Microwave energy is completely converted into heat when it enters the food, leaving no "residual" energy in the food that could have a harmful effect on your health.

Unpacking and installing the oven

By following the basic instructions on the two pages below, you will be able to quickly install the oven and check its operation. Please pay particular attention to the instructions for the installation location of the oven. When unpacking the oven, make sure that you have removed all the accessories and packing materials supplied with it. Make sure your oven was not damaged in transit.

1. Unpack your oven and place it on a flat, level surface.

2. Place the oven on a flat, level surface at a location of your choice, at least 85 cm from the floor, but leave a gap of at least 30 cm at the top and 10 cm behind the oven for adequate ventilation. To avoid accidentally tipping the oven onto the floor, make sure that the front edge of the door is at least 8 cm deep from the edge of the surface on which the oven is placed.
Ventilation openings are located on top or on the side walls of the oven. Blocking these openings may damage the oven.

Important Safety Instructions

WARNING
Please always check that you have set the cooking time correctly, as cooking too long may cause the food to FIRE and DAMAGE THE OVEN.

Please read carefully and keep for future reference.
1. Do not attempt to adjust or repair the door, control panel, interlocks, or any other part of the oven yourself. It is dangerous to carry out maintenance or repair operations on the oven that involve the removal of any shrouds and covers that provide protection from microwave energy. Repairs should only be carried out by a qualified microwave repair technician.
2. Do not turn on the oven when it is empty. When the oven is not in use, it is recommended to put a glass of water in it. If you accidentally turn on the oven, the water will safely absorb all the microwave energy.
3. Do not microwave dry clothes that can char or burn if you heat them for too long.
4. Do not cook food wrapped in paper towels, unless the cookbook specifically recommends that you do so.
5. Do not use newspapers instead of paper towels when preparing food.
6. Do not use wooden utensils. It can overheat and char. Do not use ceramic cookware with metallic finishes (such as gold or silver). Always remove twisted wires that tie food bags. Metal objects can cause an electrical arc that can cause serious damage to the oven.
7. Do not turn on the oven with a kitchen towel, paper towel or other obstruction between the oven door and front ends as this may cause microwave energy to leak out.
8. Do not use recycled paper, as it may contain impurities that may cause sparks and/or fire when cooked.
9. Do not wash the turntable in water immediately after cooking. It may break or crack.
10. Less time is required to cook or reheat small amounts of food. If you program a regular time, food may overheat and burn.
11. To prevent accidental tipping of the oven onto the floor, make sure that the front edge of the door is at least 8 cm deep from the edge of the surface on which the oven is placed.
12. Pierce the skins of potatoes, apples and other similar fruits and vegetables with a fork before cooking.
13. Do not cook in-shell eggs in the oven. Pressure will build up inside the egg and it will explode.
14. Do not attempt to deep-fry food in your oven.
15. Before cooking or defrosting food, remove the plastic wrapping from the food. However, please note that in some cases food must be covered with plastic wrap when cooking or reheating.
16. If the oven door or door seals are defective, the oven must not be used until it has been repaired by a specialist.
17. If you notice smoke, do not open the oven door, but turn it off or unplug the oven's power cord from the socket so that the flame goes out without air being drawn in.
18. When food is cooked or heated in disposable plastic, paper or other combustible containers, do not leave the oven unattended, but look inside often to make sure that nothing is happening to the dishes.
19. Allow children to use the oven without supervision only after you have taught them so that the child knows how to use the oven safely and understands the dangers of misuse.
20. Liquids or other products should not be heated in sealed containers as they may explode when heated.

The service life of this product is 7 years from the date of transfer of the product to the consumer.

Microwave utensils

Never use metal utensils or utensils with metal trim in your microwave oven.
Microwaves cannot pass through metal. They will be reflected from any metal object placed in the furnace and will cause an electric arc, which is similar in origin to lightning.
Most heat-resistant non-metal cookware is microwave safe. However, some dishes may contain materials that make them unsuitable for microwave use. If you are in doubt about the suitability of a particular dish, there is an easy way to determine if the dish is microwave safe.
Put the dish you are in doubt in the microwave next to a glass of water. Microwave on HIGH power for 1 minute. If the water is hot and the utensil being tested remains cold to the touch, it is safe to use in the microwave. However, if the water temperature does not change and the dish becomes warm, it means that it is absorbing microwaves and is not safe to use in the microwave. Your kitchen probably already has a lot of utensils that can be used for microwave cooking. Just read the list below.

Dinner plates
Many types of tableware are microwave safe. If in doubt, consult the cookware manufacturer's documentation or carry out a microwavable test.

Glassware
Heat resistant glassware is microwave safe. This also applies to all brands of tempered glass cookware. However, do not use fragile glassware such as goblets or wine glasses, as they may break when the food is heated.

Plastic containers for food storage
They can be used to quickly heat food. However, they should not be used for long periods of time as hot food will eventually warp or melt them.

Paper
Paper plates and containers are convenient and safe to use in the microwave, provided the cooking time is short and the food is low in fat and moisture. Paper towels are also very handy for wrapping food and lining baking trays that cook fatty foods like bacon. Generally try to avoid colored paper as the dye can transfer to food. Some paper products made from recycled materials may contain impurities that can cause an electric arc or fire.

Plastic bags for cooking
They are safe to use in the microwave provided they are specifically designed for cooking. However, be sure to make a cut on the bag so that the steam can escape from the bag. Never use regular plastic bags to cook food in your microwave as they will melt and tear.

Microwave Plastic Cookware
Microwave cookware is available in various shapes and sizes. For the most part, you can probably use the utensils you already have in your kitchen rather than buying new ones.

Faience, earthenware and ceramics
Vessels made from these materials are usually fine for use in a microwave oven, but to be completely sure, they should be tested in the manner described above.

WARNING
Some utensils with a high lead or iron content are not suitable for use in a microwave oven. To be sure that the utensil is suitable for use in a microwave oven, you must test it.

Food Characteristics and Microwave Cooking

Watch the cooking process
The recipes in the cookbook have been carefully crafted, but your success in cooking with them depends on how closely you observe the cooking process. Always supervise food as it is being prepared. Your oven has a built-in light that automatically lights up when food is cooking, so you can look inside and check how it's cooking. Instructions given in recipes for when to lift, stir, etc., should be considered the bare minimum. If you feel like your food is cooking unevenly, just take action that you think will improve the situation.

Factors affecting cooking time
Cooking time depends on many factors. The temperature of the ingredients used in the recipe greatly affects the cooking time. For example, a cake made with butter, milk, and eggs fresh out of the refrigerator will take significantly longer to bake than a cake made with the same ingredients but at room temperature. All recipes in this manual have cooking time ranges. In general, you will find that if you cook a dish within the minimum time given in a recipe, it will usually not be done all the way through, and sometimes you may even have to exceed the maximum time given to cook the dish to your liking. The basic principle adopted in this cookbook is to be conservative when specifying cooking times. After all, if the food is burnt, then it can no longer be fixed. Some recipes, especially those for breads, pies and custards, recommend taking the dish out of the oven slightly undercooked. It's not a mistake. If the food is allowed to stand, especially when covered, it continues to cook even after being removed from the oven, as the heat absorbed by the outer layers of the food gradually penetrates inside. If food is left in the oven until it is fully cooked, the outer layers will dry out or even burn. You will gradually become more and more adept at determining the cooking time and settling of various dishes.

Product Density
Light, porous foods such as cake or bread cook faster than heavy, dense foods such as roast beef or stew. When cooking porous foods, you must take care that their outer edges do not become too dry and brittle.

food height
The top of tall foods, particularly roast beef, will cook faster than the bottom. As a result, a dish that has a large height is recommended to be turned over during cooking, sometimes several times.

Number of products
The number of microwaves in your microwave oven remains the same regardless of the amount of food being cooked. Therefore, the more food you place in the microwave, the longer it will take to cook. When you prepare a meal that is half the weight of the recipe, be sure to reduce the cooking time indicated in the recipe by at least one third.

Products shape
Microwaves penetrate food only to a depth of about 2 cm; the inside of a thick dish is cooked by transferring the heat generated from the outside to the inside. Only the outer layers of any dish are cooked by microwave energy, the rest of the dish is cooked by conduction. It follows that the worst possible shape of a dish when cooked in a microwave oven is a thick square. The corners will be ready for a long time, and the center will not even heat up yet. Round, thin and ring-shaped dishes are most successful in the microwave oven.

covering
The lid traps heat and steam, so food cooks faster. To cover, use a lid or form-fitting film, lifting one of its corners so that the film is not torn by steam pressure.

Browning
Meat and poultry that have been cooked for 15 minutes or longer will lightly brown with their own fat. For shorter cooking times, a browning sauce such as Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce or barbecue sauce can be applied to achieve an appetizing color. Since relatively small amounts of browning sauce are added to dishes, the original aroma of the dishes remains unchanged.

Covering with greaseproof paper
The greaseproof paper effectively prevents splattering and helps the food retain some of the heat. But, since it covers the food less tightly than a lid or wrap, it allows the food to dry out slightly.

Placement and spacing
Single items such as baked potatoes, muffins in tins, snacks will heat more evenly if they are placed in the microwave at equal distances from each other, preferably in a circle. Never stack food on top of each other.

Mixing
Stirring is one of the most important steps in microwave cooking. In conventional cooking, dishes are stirred to mix the ingredients. However, when cooking with microwaves, food is stirred to spread and redistribute the heat. Always stir food from the edges towards the center as the edges heat up first.

flipping
Large, tall dishes, such as meat in large pieces and whole chicken, must be turned over so that the top and bottom cook evenly. It is also recommended to turn chicken pieces and chops.

Placing thicker portions outside
Since microwaves are "attracted" to the outer parts of food, it is wise to place thicker portions of meat, poultry or fish closer to the edges of the dish in which they are cooked. In this way, the thicker portions will receive more microwave energy and the food will be cooked more evenly.

Shielding
To prevent overcooking the corners and edges of square or rectangular dishes, they are sometimes covered with pieces of aluminum foil that block the microwaves. Never use too much foil and make sure the foil stays securely on the dish, otherwise an electric arc may occur.

lifting
Thick and dense dishes may be raised to allow microwaves to be absorbed by the bottom and center of the dish.

piercing
Foods encased in shells, skins, or membranes can explode in the oven if you do not pierce them before cooking. These foods include egg whites and yolks, shellfish and oysters, and whole vegetables and fruits.

Readiness check
Food cooks so quickly in a microwave oven that you need to check it frequently. Some dishes are left in the oven until they are fully cooked, but most dishes, including meat and poultry dishes, come out of the oven slightly undercooked and are allowed to finish cooking during the settling time. During settling, the internal temperature of the food rises by 30 C to 80 C.

Settling time
Food is often allowed to stand for 3 to 10 minutes after being removed from the microwave. Usually, food is covered while standing to keep warm, except when it needs to dry out on the outside (for example, some pies and biscuits). The sludge allows the food to be cooked through and also allows the bouquet of its flavors to blend and strengthen.

Cleaning your oven

1. Keep the interior of the oven clean
Food droplets or spilled liquids stick to the oven walls and get caught between the seals and the door surface. It is best to remove them immediately with a damp cloth. Food crumbs and drops will absorb microwave energy and increase cooking time. Use a damp cloth to remove any crumbs and food debris from between the door and the sealing surfaces of the oven. These areas must be cleaned especially carefully to ensure that the door closes securely. Wipe off grease drips from the interior surfaces with a soapy cloth, then rinse off the soap with a cloth and wipe dry. Do not use harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners. The glass tray can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher.

2. Keep the outer surfaces of the oven clean
Clean the exterior surfaces using mild soap and warm water, then rinse off the soap and dry the case with a soft cloth or paper towel. To prevent damage to the interior of the oven, do not allow water to seep into the vents. To clean the control panel, open the door to prevent accidental operation of the oven and wipe the panel with a damp cloth, then dry it immediately with a soft cloth. After cleaning, press the button Stop/Reset.

3. If steam condenses inside or outside the oven around the door, wipe the panels with a soft cloth. This may occur when the microwave oven is operated in a high humidity environment and does not in any way indicate a malfunction of the oven.
4. The door and door seals must be kept clean. Use only a soft cloth and soapy warm water to clean, then rinse off the soap and dry thoroughly.
DO NOT USE ABRASIVE MATERIALS SUCH AS CLEANING POWDERS, METAL SCOOP OR PLASTIC PADS.
Metal surfaces will be easier to keep clean by wiping them frequently with a damp cloth.

Answers to the most frequently asked questions

Q. Why is the oven chamber light not on?
O. There may be several reasons for this: The light bulb in the oven has burned out. The oven door is not closed.

Q. Does the viewing window in the oven door allow microwave energy to pass through?
O. No. The openings in the screen covering the window are made large enough to allow light to pass through, but prevent microwave energy from passing through.

Q. Why does a beep sound when I press a button on the control panel?
O. An audible signal indicates that your control signal has been entered into the oven's memory.

Q. Will the microwave oven be damaged if it is turned on when it is empty?
O. Yes. Never turn on the oven when it is empty or without the glass tray in it.

Q. Why do eggs sometimes "explode"?
O. When you bake, fry, or poach eggs, the yolk can “explode” due to steam building up inside the yolk membrane. To avoid this, simply pierce the yolk before cooking the egg. Never cook eggs in shell.

Q. Why is it recommended to let food sit after it has finished cooking time in the oven?
O. After cooking with microwaves has ended, it continues to cook during the "rest". This settling time allows food to reach readiness throughout its volume. The duration of the settling time depends on the density of the food.

Q. Can popcorn be cooked in the microwave?
O. Yes, using one of the two methods described below.
1. With popcorn cookware designed specifically for
microwave oven.
2. Using commercially available packaged popcorn intended for
microwave oven. At the same time, the cooking time and power level that you need are indicated on the packaging.
use.

FOLLOW THE PRODUCT COOKING INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY THE MANUFACTURER EXACTLY. DO NOT LEAVE OVEN UNATTENDED WHILE COOKING POPLED CORN. IF THE CORN DOES NOT TURN TO AIR WITHIN THE TIME SPECIFIED ON THE PACKAGING, STOP COOKING. CONTINUED COOKING MAY FIRE THE CORN.
WARNING
NEVER USE WRAP PAPER BAG FOR COOKING POP CORN. NEVER ATTEMPT TO RE-COOK UNBREAKED BEANS.

Q. Why doesn't my oven always cook as fast as the microwave cookbook says?
O. Consult your cookbook again to check that you followed all the instructions exactly and to find out what causes changes in cooking time. The cooking times and power levels listed in the cookbook are suggested to help prevent overcooking and scorching, a problem most commonly encountered when learning to cook in the microwave. Variations in the size, shape, weight, and thickness of food can result in longer cooking times. As with a conventional stove, supplement the instructions in the cookbook with your own common sense and experience to ensure proper cooking.

What is the secret to delicious microwave food? The answer is simple - in the right time. For each dish, it will need a different one. Modern microwave ovens allow not only to warm up, but also to defrost food. Separate options and modes will help you bake a pie, cook porridge or bake fish. We talked about how to set the clock in this article.

How to set the time on the microwave

To correctly adjust the time, you must use the buttons or adjusting knobs on the panel. Each manufacturer designates them in its own way: with an icon with a dial or simply with the inscription “Time”.

The principle depends on the type of microwave oven control. There will be controls on the mechanical panel. One of them is responsible for the power, the other for the heating rate. To prevent food from overheating or burning, it is important to set the timer correctly.

It takes 60 seconds to get boiling water in a cup. But it will take 30-40 minutes to bake chicken legs.

To defrost food in a mechanical microwave, set the power control to minimum and the timer to 3 minutes. There are minute markings around the knobs to make things easier for you.

Microwave ovens with electronic control offer a large selection of modes. As a rule, you do not need to set the time yourself. It is enough to select a certain mode, for example "Bird" or "Popcorn", and the device will automatically set the timer.

In electronic models of Samsung, LG and some other brands, you can increase the cooking time. If the initially set period was not enough, then it is not necessary to wait for the shutdown. Adjust the parameters with the More/Less buttons.

In the LJ models, this is done like this:

  • Press the "Stop/Reset" key;
  • To set the manual mode, select the "Start" button;
  • Now adjust the values with the More/Less keys. In this case, the readings will change by 10 seconds up or down.

In some models, an additional mode "Delayed start" is provided. This is very convenient if you are doing several things at the same time. The device will turn itself off as soon as the timer reaches the set point. Before adjusting, it is important to check the accuracy of the time on the microwave clock, otherwise the timer will not work correctly.

The clock can be lost during a power outage, so you need to restore the settings. If this is your first time turning on the device, then our recommendations will also come in handy. Be sure to remove the protective film from the inside of the camera first.

All microwave ovens can work in 12-hour or 24-hour system.

How to perform time setting in LG:

  • Press the "Stop" key;
  • To reset by 24 hours, press Clock twice. For 12 o'clock press again;
  • Press the "10 minutes" key 15 times. Then the "1 minute" button 3 times. Now "10 minutes" 5 times;
  • Now again "Clock".

Everything, the installation is complete. Now select any function and start cooking.

For Samsung microwave ovens, other steps are needed to set the time:

  • Press the "Dial or Clock" key. For format 24 - 1 time, for format 12 - twice.
  • To set values, select the "More/Less" keys. They are marked with up and down arrows.
  • Confirm the action - "Clock".

In order for the operation of the microwave oven to be successful, follow the basic rules:

  • Choose the appropriate cooking time;
  • Use only special heat-resistant dishes;
  • Do not place sealed containers in the chamber.

Of course, the settings for equipment of different brands are different. Detailed information is provided in the attached instructions. Follow the operating rules, including those regarding the selected modes and options. What works for one dish may not work for another.
