Which is better iPhone (iPhone) or Samsung (Samsung) - a review of two models of different generations. Which is better - iPhone or Samsung: review of models of different generations What to choose Samsung 6 iPhone

Last week, sales of the Galaxy S7 officially started in Russia. The device is a contender for the title of the best Android smartphone on the market. Bloggers from PhoneBuff, who have been actively using the gadget for several weeks, named 10 reasons why the iPhone 6s is better than Samsung's flagship smartphone.

1. Display with 3D Touch support

The iPhone 6s smartphone offers something fundamental - the phone can distinguish the force of pressing the display. In addition to familiar touch, swipe, pinch, and pinch gestures, 3D Touch lets you use Peek and Pop features. This is a new dimension in working with iPhone. Thanks to these technologies, the user can view and work with a wide variety of content without even opening it.

2. Faster in real-world performance tests

Despite 4GB of RAM in real-world usage tests. During a recent experiment, smartphones were alternately launched with the same set of games and applications, ranging from the built-in “Camera” and “Clock” to third-party gaming projects. To evaluate the efficiency of work in the background, enthusiasts opened all applications twice in a circle. As a result, the Apple device passed the tests in 1 minute and 54 seconds, the competitor from South Korea was almost 40 seconds behind. Such a comparison is closer to reality than running benchmarks.

3. High reliability

iPhone 6s is considered the most productive, most secure and most popular smartphone on the market, and now it can also be called one of the most durable flagships. Top Android Samsung devices break more easily than Apple smartphones. Earlier they confirmed this, and later they said their word.

4. Thinner and lighter

In terms of dimensions, Apple's 4.7-inch flagship is more compact than its competitor - 138.2 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm versus 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9 mm for the Galaxy S7. The South Korean device has become somewhat thicker than its predecessor and is inferior to the iPhone in this parameter. The weight of flagship smartphones from Apple and Samsung is 143 and 152 g, respectively.

5. iOS

An important advantage of the iPhone 6s over the Galaxy S7 lies in the software. iOS is a more secure and easier to use mobile platform. Android, on which the South Korean device operates, lacks many proprietary Apple applications and services, including the voice assistant Siri, AirDrop, AirPlay, iTunes, Find My iPhone and others.

Apps on the App Store are higher quality and more reliable. At the same time, iOS does not have pre-installed operator programs that the Galaxy S7 has and which cannot be removed from the device without obtaining root access.

6. Symmetrical Lighting connector

It is worth noting the convenience of a symmetrical Lightning connector over micro-USB. Samsung decided not to convert its smartphones to USB-C, so the Galaxy S7 has the problem of all gadgets with micro-USB.

7. M9 motion coprocessor

Another unique feature of the iPhone 6s is the M9 motion coprocessor. It continuously monitors the motor activity of the smartphone owner and transmits data to mobile applications. Thus, fitness programs running in the background have virtually no effect on the battery life of the device. Thanks to the M9 coprocessor, the Siri voice assistant can work in the background.

8. More flash memory options

Apple offers three versions of the iPhone with different amounts of memory. Versions with 16, 32 and 128 GB of memory are available to consumers for different wallets. Samsung offers the Galaxy S7 in Russia only with 32 GB of memory.

9. Physical Mute button

An important advantage of the iPhone 6s is the presence of a physical Mute button, which makes it easy to mute the sound when the user of the device is at an important meeting or in a movie theater.

10. iPhones hold their price longer

An important advantage of the iPhone 6s is its after-sales value. Apple gadgets keep their prices higher for longer than South Korean devices. In particular, a 2-year-old iPhone retains the same value as Galaxy smartphones a year after purchase.

If you ask any user of mobile gadgets which smartphone is beyond competition, both on the Russian and foreign markets, almost everyone will answer that this is an Apple phone. For many years now, Apple smartphones have maintained a leading position in the mobile phone market. And if you compare any product from this company with the best phones from other manufacturers, devices from Apple will in most cases take a leading position.

However, there are exceptions. Despite the fact that iPhones have proven themselves well among tens of thousands of consumers, sometimes someone will have doubts and think about switching to another brand. Among such gadgets that can seriously compete with iPhones is the Samsung Galaxy. In terms of functionality, the Galaxy is very close to the sixth es version of the iPhone, so from time to time someone tries to compare these two devices.

Today's article compares the iPhone 6S or Samsung Galaxy S6. Based on a detailed analysis, we’ll try to figure out what is better than an iPhone 6 or a Samsung 6 in order to make the right choice and not regret it in the future.

If you choose a phone based on the specifications and think about what to focus on - the iPhone 6S or the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge - then the latter gadget will clearly win. The display of the Korean device is significantly larger, and its operation is based on more modern technology. The screen covering is made of special glass. But both devices have fingerprint scanners, which provides great opportunities in the user data protection system and simplifies the process of paying for purchases, which is now carried out in a matter of seconds.

The disadvantages of the Galaxy are, first of all, its large dimensions: the Korean device is somewhat thicker than its American “brother”. But this difference is not so significant and is only 0.1 millimeters. Another disadvantage of this model is the camera that protrudes slightly from the body. However, the camera quality of the Samsung phone itself is much better.

Advantages of the Samsung Galaxy camera compared to a similar element of the iPhone 6S:

  • Optical stabilization available.
  • More (100%) number of megapixels.
  • The front camera is superior in all respects to the iPhone camera.

It should be rightly noted that the cases of both devices are good. But the iPhone has an all-aluminum body, while the Galaxy has glass elements. Although glass looks beautiful, it is a rather fragile material, so its presence in the case can be considered a minor disadvantage. But, nevertheless, everything depends on the accuracy of the user and his approach to the operation of mobile equipment. We can only advise owners of a Samsung device to handle their smartphones as carefully as possible and avoid dropping the device from a great height.

Samsung Galaxy S6, if you compare this phone with other, earlier products from Samsung, is radically different from them. Previously, all phones came in plastic cases. The design has become more perfect, the finishing has become more refined and refined. The color range is varied and includes 5 colors

The manufacturer released Galaxy in the following colors:

  • Bel.
  • Gold.
  • Deep blue.
  • Blue.
  • Green.

You won't find such a color palette on any other device. As Galaxy sales statistics show, most users chose the white case - oddly enough, because of its practicality and because it gets dirty less than other cases. However, it is necessary to clean the housing and wipe it with a dry cloth frequently, because Fingerprints remain on it (this feature applies only to the glass elements of the device).

The body of the Samsung gadget has become monolithic, which eliminates the possibility of installing a compartment for SIM cards and a removable battery in the device. The capacity of the latter, compared to other models, has not been increased, but it is still superior in power to the iPhone 6S. In addition, the manufacturer added a wireless charger to the gadget - this is one of its main features and advantages over the iPhone.

By the way, Galaxy’s filling is richer. The Samsung device is based on a 14-bit processor and 3 gigabytes of RAM. And the sixth iPhone, version S, has a 64-bit A8 processor, and only 1 gigabyte of RAM.

Going a little further, let's touch on the differences between the displays. Samsung also did not increase the screen diagonal; it remained. As in previous phones - 5.1 inches. iPhone 6 looks worse in this regard, but we can’t say that it’s bad - no, but its Korean competitor clearly wins here.

It should be noted that the display can be the main feature of any mobile device, because when choosing it, a potential consumer pays attention first of all. And only then does he consider the camera, the quality of the buttons, the speed of opening applications, etc. Even at the first glance at the two high-tech devices being compared, it becomes clear that the engineers from Korea did a great job making the Galaxy screen smarter in design and more convenient.

iPhone 6S VS Samsung Galaxy S6: screen test

The displays of the Galaxy S6 VS and the iPhone 6 S have characteristics that are significantly different from each other. The screen of the first device is based on advanced technology and includes a self-emissive matrix with organic light diodes. The Galaxy's pixel density is phenomenal - at 577 ppi, and today this is the best indicator among mobile devices.

The display of the iPhone six version S is more conservative and includes an inch LCD matrix. The pixel density of the latter is 2 times less than that of a Samsung smartphone. If you look at the iPhone screen up close, the pixelation becomes noticeable, but this is not observed at all on the second gadget. Although, if you don’t look closely, the picture on the displays of both models is quite decent, sharp and clear. Only the most demanding user can find fault with the iPhone 6 in this regard.

By the way, it’s worth talking in more detail about the brightness level of screens. This characteristic for the Galaxy can reach 380 cd/m2 with a maximum reduction in the area filled with white, and in bright light this quite good result increases by 3.5 times.

So, the undeniable advantages of the Galaxy display are as follows:

  • Brighter screen.
  • Highly effective anti-glare coating.
  • Increased contrast.
  • Rich color and natural picture in any lighting conditions.

The brightness of the iPhone 6 S, if we consider the maximum indicator, is also high - 550 cd/m2, but it still loses to the Galaxy smartphone. The display of this device also has anti-glare technology and a high degree of contrast.

The gamma of both devices does not cause any problems during setup, and the indicators are close to ideal values. Moreover, for both phones everything is almost the same.

In general, a comparison of the iPhone 6 S and Galaxy screens shows the clear superiority of the Korean smartphone in the following indicators:

  • Brightness and contrast.
  • Width of viewing angles.
  • More flexible color settings.

Despite the above, I will again emphasize that the Galaxy's superiority does not mean that the iPhone is bad in any respect. For example, its LCD display technology is the most advanced among all smartphones. But to the average user, all the differences from Galaxy listed above are not noticeable. But, of course, an experienced user will immediately notice a tint of blue on the display, as well as imperfect clarity.

Comparison of iPhone 6 with Galaxy S 6: the most important thing

Finally, we will provide a visual comparison of the characteristics of the two devices so that you can quickly determine for yourself the advantages and disadvantages of each phone. Below is a comparison table of both gadgets.

iPhone 6S VS iPhone 6S – comparative characteristics, table

Phone model Samsung Galaxy S6 32GB Apple iPhone 6 16GB
Price from 25,000 rub. from 40,000 rub.
Weight OK. 140 grams OK. 130 grams
operating system Android 5 iOS version 9
Image resolution 16 megapixels 8 megapixels
Screen diagonal 5.1 inches 4.7 inches
CPU Samsung Exynos 7420 Apple A8
Processor cores 8 2
RAM 32 gigabytes 16 gigabytes

From the table presented above, the similarities and differences between the 2 smartphone models that are discussed in today’s review are clearly visible. So, as always, Apple phones are some of the most expensive mobile gadgets on the market. Is this justified or not? Here, user opinions, as always, differ. But a number of owners of Apple devices have a strong opinion that, despite all the positive properties of iPhones, their price is much too high. Advanced users know how to buy an Apple phone much cheaper than in Russia - for example, buy an American device and then unlock it.

One of the significant differences between one device and another is the camera, the characteristics of which are undoubtedly better in the Galaxy. In terms of performance, the Samsung device is also superior to the iPhone 6S.

However, despite all of the above, we note that any technique is tested in action. On paper, incl. In the instructions for devices, a lot can be written, because every manufacturer praises their product. It is also worth listening to the opinions of other users. But don’t put them at the forefront when choosing a smartphone for yourself, since everyone has their own tastes and preferences. Certain phone functions are important to each of us. For some it’s the quality of calls, for others it’s the RAM capabilities and performance, for others it’s the quality of the camera, etc.

To apply for a loan online, just fill out an application form on the MFO website containing your passport details, the desired loan amount and some other information. Also, if you plan to receive money on the card, you will need to have a registered Visa or MasterCard with CVV2 to receive funds.

A decision on an application is made from a few minutes to half an hour. If the loan amount exceeds 30-50 thousand rubles, the application is reviewed manually, which affects the processing time. The speed of receipt of money depends on the chosen method of receipt - to an account, to a card, to an electronic wallet or in cash and on the loan amount. Money is transferred at any time of the day, as well as on holidays and weekends.

You can increase the loan term for a period of 1-30 days. In some cases, if there are compelling reasons, the loan is extended without overpayments. In other cases, an additional commission fee is paid for loan extension. The number of possible extensions must be clarified with the microfinance organization.

For the first time, you can borrow an amount from 1 thousand rubles to 30 thousand rubles, depending on different conditions. The size of the first loan is affected by the borrower’s income, loan term, good credit history, and conditions for certain programs.

The MFO checks the validity of the passport through the FMS database, registration address, contact information of the borrower, assesses his solvency, and looks at open records in the FSSP database. Online client profiles are checked by an automated scoring system. Data from the BKI and bank card information are also checked.

A bad credit history is not a reason to expect a refusal. If the CI is damaged due to the fault of the creditor bank, you can contact the BCI with a statement. In other cases, you can try to correct it with a chain of small microloans taken sequentially and repaid in a timely manner.

If the loan is not given, you should find out the reason. For example, get your CI and study it to see if there are any delays caused by the banks. Maybe you have accumulated debt on utility bills - it needs to be paid off. After some time, you can re-apply to the microfinance organization to receive a smaller loan amount. Several consecutive small loans taken and repaid in a timely manner will improve your position in MFOs.

If the money is not returned to the MFO in due time, you will be charged penalties for a certain period stipulated in the agreement. If you do not contact and repay the loan during this time, your case will be referred to a collection agency, which will work with you to resolve how to return the money. If you avoid communicating with debt collectors, the case will be transferred to bailiffs who:

  1. funds on the salary card will be seized;
  2. travel abroad will be limited;
  3. will seize your personal property.

Samsung S6 Edge is a unique smartphone with a screen bent at the edges. So far there are no analogues on the market, but you can’t get away with just one “zest”. There are a huge number of criteria by which you can compare smartphones. Nowadays there are so many of them on the market that it is incredibly difficult to make a choice. By the way, the latest models of smartphones from Apple have gained popularity. Or rather, they didn’t lose her. But the Korean concern Samsung does not “smoke on the sidelines”; it presented a worthy competitor - the Samsung S6 Edge smartphone. Recently, there has been active debate on the Internet regarding which is better.

Let's try to look at things objectively and compare these phones.

Specifications

For clarity and ease of perception, we will write them down in a table.

Smartphone Apple iPhone 6 16Gb Samsung S6 Edge
Price $860 $880
operating system iOS Android 5.0
Screen, diagonal, resolution screen 4.7 inches, resolution 1334×750 screen 5.1 inches, resolution 2560×1440
Processor, frequency 2 cores, Apple A8 1400 MHz 8 cores, Samsung Exynos 7420 (4 cores at 2.1 GHz, 4 cores at 1.5 GHz)
RAM capacity 1 GB 3 GB
Disk memory 16 GB, no memory card slot 32 GB, no memory card slot
Cameras: rear, front Rear 8 MP, built-in flash, front 1.2 MP Rear 16 MP, LED flash. Front camera 5 MP
Dual SIM support No No
Battery capacity 1810 mAh 2600 mAh

What useful things can you take away from this table? And the fact that the Apple iPhone 6 was not lying around with the Samsung S6 Edge smartphone. The latter has hardware that is an order of magnitude higher than the components in the iPhone 6. Just one 8-core processor and a large amount of RAM of 3 GB. The Samsung S6 Edge definitely supports multitasking, and will be able to simultaneously “run” “heavy” applications - the processor will definitely handle it, and the amount of RAM will be enough.

The next difference is the screen. In Samsung it is not only larger diagonally, most importantly it has a much higher resolution, which makes the picture more detailed. We repeat: in the S6 model the screen is still bent at the edges, which makes it unique in its kind. The camera is another advantage of the Samsung S6 Edge smartphone. 16 megapixels, LED flash and autofocus allow you to achieve excellent photo quality. There are also many different settings for the camera, which opens up creative possibilities. However, the iPhone also has this, so it is not an advantage. But the fact that the camera in the Samsung S6 Edge is better is unambiguous. The rear camera, by the way, is also better, but it plays a much smaller role.

The battery is 2600 mAh versus 1810 mAh in the iPhone 6. In principle, a large battery capacity is good, but with its powerful hardware, a Samsung smartphone will “eat” it more actively, and in this case the advantage is leveled out. Both smartphones will have to be charged every evening during normal use (i.e. communicate from time to time, take photos, listen to music).

By the way, both smartphones are high-tech and, so to speak, multimedia. Both are equipped with a fingerprint scanner - one of the latest technological developments in gadget locking and personal data protection. At the beginning of the article I wanted to write about the fingerprint scanner as an advantage of the iPhone smartphone, but it turned out that Samsung also has it.

OS. Android vs iOS

This is a very painful topic that affects the feelings of all fans of Apple technology and owners of Android smartphones.

It is the iPhone operating system, as the owners of these smartphones say, that largely determines its high cost. Those. This is a unique product that is only available on iPhones. It’s difficult to argue with this, because indeed, no other gadgets have iOS “on board”. Another plus: with relatively weak hardware, Apple smartphones (and tablets too) work perfectly, perform complex tasks quickly and without freezing. Most likely, this is due to excellent software optimization and the interaction of all components with each other. This is precisely why this operating system is valuable.

Nothing bad can be said about Android either, but if you compare the number of complaints about the “brakes” of gadgets on Android and the number of bad reviews about devices on iOS, it’s easy to conclude: Android slows down more often and harder.

But in favor of Android we can cite the Play Market distribution store for games and applications. iOS has an analogue of iTunes, but iTunes usually has paid programs and games. There are also free ones, but they are few. On the contrary, the Play Market has many high-quality free games and programs, which is also a plus, albeit a very dubious one.

Design, style

iPhone 6 is valued for its unique design and style. It is often bought not only because of its technical characteristics (especially since they are not a fountain), but because it emphasizes the style and taste of the owner. In society, a gadget is positioned as an attribute of a stylish modern person with good taste and income. In many ways, its price is determined precisely by its promotion and brand.

But the Samsung S6 Edge is not inferior in this case. Moreover, it looks significantly better than any iPhone model and series. The folded screen alone is simply an incredible breakthrough in the field of digital technology, and Samsung is the first company to achieve it. So on the fashion front, in our opinion, it is Samsung that wins.

So, what we have: at a relatively identical cost, the Samsung S6 Edge is superior to the iPhone 6 in terms of hardware performance, screen quality, cameras, as well as in appearance and style. However, it is inferior in terms of software, but there are many people who can argue this point. The verdict is clear: the Samsung S6 Edge is much better than the iPhone 6.

A lot of time has passed since the announcement of the Galaxy S7. If you remember, the presentation took place in a style unusual for Samsung. For the first time, the bet was placed not on technical characteristics, but on the impressions of the device. This is the approach Apple preaches, so it’s not surprising that it had a blast at the presentation. Samsung went over its competitor in the iPhone 6S in the camera area, not forgetting to highlight other advantages of the flagship: waterproof housing, support for memory cards, fast charging. Work had been done to work out the bugs of the Galaxy S6 and it seemed that Samsung had made the ultimate flagship that destroyed the competition. I had the opportunity to test the Galaxy S7 and compare it with the iPhone 6S. I am sure that some iPhone users thought about switching to S7 after the announcement and may even have already switched to it. In this comparison, I will talk about the strengths and weaknesses of each flagship and share my personal impressions of temporarily switching from the iPhone 6S to the Galaxy S7.

Design and Construction

When talking about the design of the Galaxy S7, we should start with the colors; they greatly affect the perception of the product. The white and black ones turned out better than the others, since fingerprints are not visible on them thanks to a special coating. The phones felt like they were dipped in caramel. The gold and silver versions turned out to be shiny and easily soiled, and fingerprints instantly remain on them. Remember the mirror coating of some Galaxy S6, Xperia Z5 Premium - here it’s the same, only without the mirroring. In a cool room or outdoors, marks are easily wiped off and disappear on their own, but as soon as it warms up a little, looking at the S7 is no longer so pleasant. Alas, the white version of the smartphone is not officially sold in Russia, so if you don’t want to worry too much about fingerprints, take the classic black version. Silver titanium looks more attractive, but is much less suitable for everyday use.

The design of the S7 itself hasn't changed much compared to the S6. The outlines have become smoother, the base is the same glass on both sides and a metal frame. The changes are more visible in the case of the S7 edge; it feels much nicer in the hand compared to its predecessor. The S7's metal frame resembles a bumper rather than a smooth continuation of the body. The same Alcatel IDOL 4S looks and feels more monolithic, although it uses the same materials. The S7's frame could use a thicker paint or other finish; it feels rough and unfinished and is easily scratched and chipped. By purchasing a leather case and handling the device carefully, these troubles can be avoided. In general, careful handling of a glass and metal phone costing many thousands of rubles will become your credo. The most sensitive part of the case turned out to be the fingerprint scanner and its protective coating.

It is made of plastic or some kind of fragile glass, since the scanner of the test Galaxy S7 was severely scratched even before it fell into my hands. This cannot be achieved with careful handling of the device, but it is easy to achieve if you carry the device with keys and change in one pocket or in one compartment of the bag. This would be difficult to achieve if there were sapphire glass scanner protection like the iPhone, but alas. At the same time, the iPhone 6S case cannot be called wear-resistant either. It has a slippery and smooth aluminum body, which is also not recommended for carrying change or keys. Using an iPhone 6S without a case is more expensive, and the thick sides of the original cases or additional glass will save the screen from cracks on occasion.

The rest of the design and body were good. Samsung engineers should be given their due, because the dimensions of the case for a smartphone with a 5.1" screen are extremely small and comparable to the 4.7" iPhone 6S. Moisture and dust protection are rather pleasant additions; the phone is not afraid of rain or spilled liquid, but it is not worth it purposefully drown the gadget and use it for underwater photography. It will last half an hour in this mode thanks to IP68 protection, but you take on the risks. The iPhone 6S does not offer any advanced water protection, although rain and an accidentally spilled glass of water will not be a problem for it (as will sea waves – from personal experience) In some foreign tests, the device can withstand immersion in water for 10 minutes.

The S7 screen has a good oleophobic coating and collects less fingerprints than the iPhone 6S display. In terms of resolution, the Samsung flagship is far ahead - 2560x1440 (577 ppi) versus 1334x750 (326 ppi) for the iPhone 6S. In fact, the pixel density is comparable, and the Quad HD resolution of the Super AMOLED screen is needed primarily to hide the pentile. The picture quality is close to the reference for both devices, but not without reservations. The AMOLED display in the Galaxy S7 is characterized by infinite contrast and black depth, high brightness and close to natural colors, but only in the “Main” screen mode. In other modes, colors are not for everyone. As with all such screens, violet-green stripes are visible when tilted, and the display itself turns green when tilted vertically. In everyday life, this may not be noticeable, but lying in bed, when the phone is not held in the most natural way, it is difficult not to notice. You get used to this over time, and if you use the “Basic” mode, then distortions when tilting are not so visible due to the calm color scheme.

The iPhone 6S has an IPS screen with a contrast ratio of 1400:1, which by IPS standards gives deep blacks, which, of course, are infinitely far from the blacks of AMOLED screens. Here the colors and shades are natural, and a slight inversion is visible only with strong diagonal deviations. In other positions the screen performs equally well. iOS 9.3 introduced the Night Shift feature, which reduces blue light levels and makes the screen warmer for comfortable night reading. I would like to see such a function on all smartphones in the world. Some companies already have it or had it before it appeared in iOS; Samsung does not yet have this. Using the screen at night is not so comfortable, but there is no severe discomfort due to the low minimum brightness. Samsung also has an adaptive screen mode, which changes the display’s color scheme depending on conditions (works only with native applications), but by default it uses the richest color setting, and I can’t call its effect on the display’s behavior noticeable. This is by no means the TrueTone display in the iPad Pro 9.7 (review), the change in shades of which is immediately noticeable with any external change in environment.

The assembly of the Galaxy S7 does not cause any complaints, as does the location of the main control elements, except for the touch buttons under the screen. If you have not used them before, then out of habit you will encounter accidental clicks and touches at inopportune moments. The key backlighting can no longer be configured using standard tools (but can be done using the third-party Galaxy Button Light utility), and you will probably quickly get tired of it. After the iPhone 6S, random button presses and the hypersensitive screen of the S7 will greatly irritate any defector. Apple configures the iPhone display in such a way that only frequent areas of interaction with the screen are considered hypersensitive. This protects against accidental clicks, so using the native iOS keyboard is comfortable even on the 4" screen of the iPhone 5S. This is the whole secret. Most Android smartphones have screens that are calibrated differently and instantly respond to accidental touches and clicks on the wrong interface elements. The Galaxy S7 was no exception here, but you can get used to it in a couple of days.

Software

The Galaxy S7 runs Android 6.0.1 with the latest version of TouchWiz, which has never looked better. It still has a lot of clumsiness and confusing settings, but at least it is smooth and fast. After iOS you can use it comfortably. The experimental features added the ability to remove the application menu, in which icons are displayed immediately on desktops, as in iOS, MIUI, EMUI, Flyme OS and the latest LG UX. According to rumors, naked Android will also soon lose its application menu. But this is not the only thing added to the new TouchWiz.

Let's start with the main points. Instead of Google Now, the left desktop is given over to the Briefing application, which is integrated into the Flipboard shell. It turns off, but there is much more news and articles here than Google Now offers, so you can leave it. Google Assistant and Now On Tap are activated by long pressing the Home button. Double-clicking the button launches the camera from anywhere and even from the lock screen, this is a very useful feature. Holding down the recent apps button launches split-screen mode.

In the settings, frequent functions should be placed in the top position; by default, not all useful sections are there. You can also configure display modes, detailed audio parameters, and a memory and energy saving manager. For desktop icons, background shading is optionally added to make them appear the same size. The gesture control setting has not gone away. New to TouchWiz is an always-on display mode, which displays a clock, calendar, or image on the lock screen. This function can hardly be called useful; it distracts attention from the smartphone, because the calendar or clock on the locked display is constantly moving (otherwise the display would burn out quickly), and it also affects the autonomy of the device. Another useful addition is Game Launcher, which automatically collects games into one folder. Using Game Tools, touch buttons are disabled during games, screen recording is activated, screenshots are taken and notifications are turned off, and you can increase or decrease the game resolution. The one-handed control mode at this diagonal isn't very useful, and the simple desktop style is useful for older people or those who don't need all the TouchWiz features.

There are few pre-installed applications and we have to give Samsung credit for this; this used to be a serious problem. But the company went too far, removing even the music player and video player. Luckily, they're easy to download from the Galaxy Add-ons Store, as are other utilities, including those included as gifts for S7 owners. But Instagram, WhatsApp, and Microsoft Office are installed out of the box. The Samsung Members program deserves special attention. It diagnoses the smartphone, communicates with support, and provides service workers with remote access to the device to configure and optimize parameters.

There's not much to say about iOS; it's mostly unchanged since iOS 7, with the main improvements being in the appearance and some specific features. For tablets, iOS 9 added split screen and picture-in-picture; for phones, in-depth search and Siri capabilities and expanded functions of native applications appeared. iOS 9.3 brought Night Shift mode (makes the screen warmer for night reading and falling asleep faster), improved performance and stability, some additional tweaks to the Health app, and Touch ID support in Notes. In the iPhone 6S review, you will read more about the system and how 3D Touch works; after all, this is also a part of iOS recently, and in the iOS 10 review you can find out what Apple has prepared for its users for the fall.

Camera

Compared to the S6 and Note 5, the smartphone camera has undergone the most serious upgrade in the S7. Its characteristics: 12 MP, Dual Pixel, 1.4 micron, autofocus, flash, optical image stabilization, f/1.7, 4K video recording. The resolution was reduced compared to its predecessors, the pixel size was increased, the pixels themselves were upgraded, the aperture was made wider, the focusing was made lightning fast - and now one of the best mobile cameras is ready. Why not the best? There are a lot of nuances.

Let's start with the fact that there is not one camera, but two. One uses a Samsung sensor, the other Sony, in daytime there is no difference between them, but in the dark the version with a Sony sensor turns green. Focusing on the S7 is impressively accurate and fast, but only in the center of the frame, where there are 35 focus points. Plus, it does not work in 1080p/60fps shooting mode when recording video, but it works in 4K. Sometimes blurring is possible, the percentage is approximately the same as on the iPhone 6S. Post-processing of images sometimes seems aggressive, although with effective noise reduction. The consequence of this was excessive sharpness, which can not be noticed in every scene - landscape photography, photographing slides and presentations with text (a visible outline appears around the letters). In other situations and scenarios, you will most likely not notice this at all, and will end up with photos with the correct white balance, natural colors and correct exposure. For those who are concerned about the sharpness of JPG, a professional mode is offered with the export of RAW files, which can be easily processed in any advanced graphics editor. Even mobile Adobe Lightroom consumes them with a bang and reveals the Galaxy S7 edge camera more fully. Point: the camera always starts in automatic mode, so for pros it is recommended to put a shortcut to the Pro-mode of the camera on the desktop in order to launch it immediately. The distortion problem, widely publicized by some users, has already been fixed by software in one of the latest updates.

Otherwise, we have a wonderful camera, which, whatever one may say, takes some getting used to. The “take it out and shoot it” scenario doesn’t always work here. In this regard, the iPhone 6S performs like any iPhone before it. He may not take the best or sharpest shot in the world, but he will take just a good photo as quickly as possible. Knowing all the features of the S7 camera will make it easier to get an impressive shot. Not easier than on the iPhone, but easier than not knowing the features. For your patience and work, the S7 camera will reward you with a minimum amount of noise, clear pictures in not the best conditions, good background blur in macro and excellent food photographs (note to food blogger). Below is a comparison of pictures from the iPhone 6S, where the Korean flagship is on the left and the American one on the right.

Performance, tests, sound

There are two modifications of the smartphone, one with the Snapdragon 820 chipset, the other with the Exynos 8 Octa 8890. The second one is supplied to Russia and most countries of the world, and that’s good. The Samsung chipset shows itself to be strong and productive, has top results in benchmarks, low heating rates, and no significant throttling or problems in the tested games. In AnTuTu the device selects 130,828 points, 2161/6554 in Geekbench, in Vellamo - 6253/3555/3471 points, Epic Citadel - 58.4 fps in Ultra quality, in GFXBench - 7.9/15/15/28/27/40 /53/86 fps, 3DMark - 2158 points. Interface slowdowns are practically eliminated, although the system is not immune to application crashes.

Asphalt 8, Unkilled, Dead Effect 2 and Implosion run quickly and smoothly at maximum quality settings. With the iPhone 6S, things are the same; the results in the benchmarks are also comparable (I don’t present them here because iOS doesn’t have even half of these tests; for clarity, check out the latest AnTuTu rating). Both devices heat up their bodies noticeably. The heating is uniform in both places, but the S7 has a slightly more pronounced warming on the right edge of the device. Both devices are best used with cases if you plan to play for a long time, although you most likely will not be able to play for a long time. The Samsung Galaxy S7 runs on battery power for about 4 hours of screen time with a fairly active load (the version of the Galaxy S7 with an edge display lasts longer and heats up less). The iPhone 6S discharges in the same amount of time. if you use it to its fullest. Both devices will last a day, but to do this you need to let them out of your hands at least sometimes. The advantage of the Galaxy S7 here is fast charging, because in 90 minutes the 3000 mAh battery is fully charged. The iPhone 6S with its 1715 mAh takes longer to charge if you use the iPad charger, and if you use the included iPhone charger, it takes much longer.

The sound of smartphones in headphones has become an important criterion for many users and for me personally, so it was interesting to compare these two devices using the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H6 headphones. The comparison showed that the iPhone 6S sounds cleaner and more detailed, wider, and has more volume headroom. The Galaxy S7 sounds good, most users with simpler headphones will not be upset. If you dig deeper into the settings, play around with simulating tube sound and adjust the sound specifically to your hearing, you can achieve a slightly more interesting impression from the device. The iPhone 6S is much simpler in this regard and it is problematic to customize its sound except with the built-in equalizer and third-party players.

conclusions

The Galaxy S7 is undoubtedly Samsung's best flagship, offering top specs and a cool camera in a stylish glass and metal body. The device is not without its nuances, but there are no perfect smartphones, and the iPhone 6S is also very far from the dream device. Is it worth upgrading from iPhone 6S to S7? Yes, if you do not depend on Apple services and are not strongly tied to a certain set of software that looks or works a little worse on Android. At least until the fall, the Samsung flagship will find something to keep you busy, and then the iPhone 7 will be released. You should definitely take a closer look at the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge if you have owned all of Samsung's past flagships or top-end solutions from competitors and are looking for a worthy replacement. Until the end of the year, nothing more significant will happen in the Android world than the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge (except perhaps the Galaxy Note 7). Despite some shortcomings, the S7/S7 edge now has practically no competitors among Android and most likely will not have them for a long time.
